Question: Does original interior color always win even if it's UGLY? Previous owner began changing to black. Should I change back to original, or keep it black?

Yummy...Torqueflight 727 tranny...another sweet piece of Mopar mastery!

It's amazing what a good cleanin' can produce. This really is the same tranny.
...it did take a little cuttin to remove it, though.

ENGINE

Here are some of the parts that were removed. I wanted to get photos of the pistons, rods, springs, etc also, but they got scrapped before I could get to them. About the only parts that aren't getting replaced are the crank & connecting rods (pretty sure).

Ok, it passed the magnaflux test!! Now the fun begins! Apparently, someone bored it "0.030-over," so a rebuild to exact factory specs can't be done (oh well). Unfortunately, I don't have all the steps of the build on camera, but here are a few cool pics of part of the process. Here, after having been cleaned and "decked," it's getting perfected for the new slugs...cool!

Woah...missed a few steps! I wish I had photos to document the rest of the build. If for no other reason, I wish I could've seen all the new parts AND their assembly and installation. The builder did promise to give back all the old stuff that was replaced. If any is interesting, I'll post pic of that, too.

Note: I added some of these pics out of sequence, but now the different blues are really noticeable, aren't they? I'm still happy with the orange. It really pops! Can't wait to see it inside the engine bay!

Before... ...after

Last few days before complete overhaul, rebuild...(whatever) is finished. I'll be poor again for awhile, but hopefully within a month or two, it'll get a ride on the dyno. This will break it in, expose & correct any problems, and allow me to know exactly how many horses it's kickin' out. It's a stock rebuild, so I imagine about 330 HP (?). I'm curious...any questions/comments about changing the engine color to orange? It's not original, but it looks much cooler to me.

Question for you experts: This baby blue looks way different than the greenish blue on pages 1 and 2. Until now, I thought the greenish blue was original. Which of those is closer? I'm just curious, because for now...it's staying HOT ORANGE!

OOOOhhhhhhhhhhhhh....one part closer to the dyno! My new 650 cfm Holley just arrived. I only need 3 more items...headers, electronic ignition/distributor, high volume water pump. Oh yeah. A 2nd job to pay for this project.

The Holley...

...replaced the Edelbrock. The only thing sexier than an out-of-box Holley is an out-of-box Holley that's strapped-in and hooked-up to a good engine!

Here's the E-brock Performer 383 manifold that was in the pics on page 2. It won't be a show-winner, but looks way better. I'd like to sell or trade it for a Performer RPM.
