Rebuilt and drove a 1972 MGB for 15 years and it was time to get something with more power and better handling. Decided couple years ago on search for a Porsche 944. Found this 944 through the AMGBA club. EXCELENT running with all docs. Never driven in the winter. Body and interior in great shape but a little tired. Paid $5200 for a fair deal.

Looked at ten candidates over the years and this one was BY FAR the best example. Made a deal quickly with the understanding the MGB is out of the garage and sold. Sold to a couple in Dayton OH for $4500. They drove it all the way back to Dayton without incident - a testimony to the decent (by no means concourse) restoration. It was a great car.

March 2009
PMI / Upgrades: Rotor Cap Plugs, filter, Mobil1. Hood / Deck shocks, hatch seal, HVAC. Paint Job: No color change. Has original NICE paint but it's tired. DuPont ChromaPremier / 42500S Clear. Nice.
Tires, Sirrius 2008.

On May 23 2009 car off line for paint.

My bride was at local shopping center when a lady tapped the car above the left rear taillight. The insurance company sent a check that covered all the gaskets, chip guards, and other stuff for the project. Lu - I'm sorry I gave you so much trouble.

Bumpers DA sanded. Epoxy / Urethane. Builders put steel fasteners on the aluminium bumper causing corrosion cell. Jimmy The Nap put that problem to rest with fastener insulation and epoxy. Porsche Engineers: That kind of engineering is why planes fall out of the air. Front Skirt-urethane only.
June 20, 2009 Blocked parts for second pass

Side Job: Painted a 1952 MurrayTrac chain drive pedal Tractor. In Guards Red basecoat/clearcoat. Nice! I primed this in 1989. If it's good enough for the Porsche it's good enough for the tractor. Porsche made tractors back in the day. Could not find badging or decals for this ride.

July 17 2009. Body work being done on low parts of the car. Minor dents along rocker panel are ground and filled. Entire body now ready for paint. Dry DA sanded with #800 in interface pad. I'm used to wet sanding - now accepting advancements in preparation technology (kicking and screaming). All orange peel gone. This 1986 Chicago car has ZERO rust.

July 25, 2009 Masked it up. Paint Sunday.

A little rocker gurard.

Color and Clearcoat. That is not die back on the hood.

September 1, 2009: Just in time for Labor Day Weekend Jeff had his guy install the new front KYB Shocks and sway bar bushings. We took the old shocks apart and they were SHOT. If you think your 944 is handling well and have a lot iof miles on it change the shocks. Its a whole new car. Change the shocks. During the work this summer ran into a couple problems with Pelican Parts. First the side mirror gaskets labeled 1986 944 were wrong and suposedly discontinued, they also recommened and shipped the wrong outside sway bar bushings. Not a huge problem but a PIA going into final assembly. Double work. And the side mirrors and the bushings are a pain to R&R.
Installed chip guard decals all around and new hood and deck lid struts.
