Im 15 doin up my first ride
Always loved the z's
this Car is a 2.8litre straight six
This car seems to attract alot of praise + attention...and street racers...dunno why?
These cars were Import Car of The Year, 1979
These cars have power windows, electric mirrors, power steering, OHC,independent suspension, 3 dash gauges moulded into dash, plus these things are still used in the 350z
I dont normally see any zx's or z's in my area
i was lucky enough to get a 2 for 1, the other is a blue, silver 280zx though badly rusted and been pulled apart for spare parts.

my car is stock.... i would rather keep it original to prove they look good even stock
some mates think its crap but yeah u tell me.. wat ya think?

bita rust, dad can do...

it sadly has a 3 speed auto but thats ok.. does like 3000rpm at 100km/h. i'd rather auto over manual....not cos im lazy

dash isnt cracked, surprisingly :O

power windows are slow going up and down...slowly

sony headunit with 4 sony 6" 4 way speakers, the front speakers are mounted on the "step in lights" instead of the doors, they look to bulky on the doors anyway. the other 2 are mounted in behind the seats where the two old 4" speakers were as standard, very neatly fitted

Engine Bay Before, very dirty

JamesDato280zx's 1979 Datsun 280ZX

Engine Bay After, i spent a fair bit of time especially on that tappet cover and the air cleaner, replaced headgasket

JamesDato280zx's 1979 Datsun 280ZX

Interior, not the best colour...might install a sports steering wheel if i can pick up a local boss kit and save up...i wouldnt mind a rachet shifter there fairly good

JamesDato280zx's 1979 Datsun 280ZX

Getting old paint off rims, 30 year old paint is harder to get off then you think, 3 cans of paint stripper used

gold (on the X part) and polished alloy (around the already machined parts) should look nice when done

JamesDato280zx's 1979 Datsun 280ZX

Alot cleaner ready for primier and then nice metalic gold

JamesDato280zx's 1979 Datsun 280ZX

JamesDato280zx's 1979 Datsun 280ZX

JamesDato280zx's 1979 Datsun 280ZX

JamesDato280zx's 1979 Datsun 280ZX

rims painted turned out real good, better then i thought

Cool 280 mate. Like what you did with the stock rims. They aren't flash in their worn factory condition are they.
You should get yourself on some of the zed forums around australia. I'm on www.newcastlezeds.com myself. Good advice, parts etc. Cheers

Nice 2+2! Good job on the wheels; sharp! The only problem is that you put the steering wheel on the wrong side :) just kidding!
