Performance

We started out with a 2wd Dodge Dakota frame and lowered the front suspension. We bolted up a Chrysler 8 1/4 sure grip rear end with leaf springs from a 85 Plymouth Grand Fury Cop Car. Then we added 1 1/8" and 7/8" sway cars to keep the car flat in the corners.  The car sits low enought that I need to roll the car on 2x4's to jack it up and I have to jack the front up before the rear or I can't get both ends of the car off the ground.

We also added a Summit Racing 20 gallon fuel cell.  I then fabricated a skid plate to support the fuel cell and protect.

For the exaust I welded togther a dual 2 1"2 inch mandrel bent system that feeds in Flowteck Warlock mufflers with cutouts.  I dont figure the cutouts will give me any power gains, but it does sound really cool straightpiped.  The car has a mean Idle but quiets down above about 1000 rpm so it doesnt atract a whole lot of attention.

The engine is a Mopar performance 380 HP 360 Magnum. It feeds into Sanderson Shorty headers and is feed by a Speed Demon 650 with an electric choke an vacume secondaries. I had to fabricate my own mounts for the Alternator and Powersteering pump and so far they operate nice and quite. We moved the firewall back about 6 inches to set the engine back as far as possible for the best possible weight distribution.

The transmission is a Chrysler 833 4 speed with a hurst shifter and a Lakewood explosion proof bellhousing.  We shortened a Gran Fury driveshaft, added a brand new Mancini Racing Driveshaft yoke and new heavy duty U joints.  A hydralic clutch slave cylinder is turned around backwards to run the clutch fork and so far it seems to give a good clutch feel and it fully releases.  Hopefully this will still be the case when I make the first quickshift.  We are going to have to make a custom Shift Lever to get the position right, and the Hurst linkage interfered with the transmission case and the speedometer sending unit for the American Classic Gauges.  I still like the feel of the gates better then factory and its nice to have heavy duty shift linkage because I plan running this car hard once the bugs are worked out.
