The deck used is an Alpine IDA-X001. I chose it because I didn't like any of Alpine's single din options that had an optical out, so I settled on using a changer with optical out, the Alpine CHA-S624 to get a digital signal to my 701 processor. Since that freed me up to use whatever deck I felt like, I chose the X001 for the larger color screen and the seamless integration with my ipod. I have all my cd's ripped at 320k or lossless wav. On most discs, the quality difference is minimal, especially at road speeds. The deck was ISO mounted into a dash kit that replaces a pocket my car used to have. Honda has factory options to put a changer, dvd player, or other accessories in the same location, so mounting the kit into the space was no problem. I had the kit and the trim ring smoothed into one piece and painted. I also had the other pieces in the center console painted from the brushed aluminum finish that is on other trim pieces in the car to this metallic black. The black matches the coloring on my steering wheel controls, which helps tie in colors to look more like a factory option. The other silver trim pieces on the arm rests will also be painted to match. Special thanks to Kerry Madding at The Radio Clinic in Chattanooga, TN for help on this. He did the blending and painting, and it came out top notch. I've gotten several compliments on it from judges and competitors at shows.
Deck ISO mounted in the kit: When this picture was taken, I was trying to find a solution to make the kit match the trim of the car. There wasn't a good solution available, so I decided to make the trim match the deck.
