ahhhh what a car. I went from a nice 1997 Mazda 626, cookie-cutter, hated it... my best friend at the time had the car- and his dad bought it brand new in 1987 with a sticker price a little over $11,000. It has a Suzuki built 1.0 litre- 3 cylinder turbocharged and intercooled engine, linked up to a 5-speed manual transmission. Producing roughly 94hp and weighin in at just over 1600 lbs, the Sprint Turbo was quite the fun car to drive. nearly go-kart performance and handling- sometimes scary- but always fun.
Interesting history; its sold in Canada as the Pontiac Firefly, and in Europe and Asia as the Suzuki Swift GTI. in fact every single part of this car had Suzuki stamped on it. everything that is but the bowtie in the grill.... poo on chevy! anyway it was sold for 2 years; 1987 and 1988, of which only 6 were sold in the state of Missouri- at 3 dealerships in 2 colors. A factory Sprint Turbo is only red or white. This car lived a long sweet life in Missouri, lasting to a solid 175,000 miles then something blew and I junked it- major regret. It had 12-inch rims which were the smallest sold at the time, and the spare was a full-size! all in all this is a sweet little car, getting around 50mpg they're too sweet to pass up. keep checkin ebay.
