This is my wifes'68 bug. While I was building my '34 Ford (see my build), she wanted her bug to look more bad ass. I told her to figure out what she wanted to have done and we'll do it!!
The first idea was to do the "wedge" chop.
I couldn't get the A pillars to align up so we did a full chop.

We bought a step flange tool to attach the two roofs together. This makes for a nice clean fit.
The A pillars align up nice now.
You can see where you need to extend the roof and door pieces. We robbed parts fom an orange and white bug.

Caprice wanted the doors seuicided and the fattest fenders available oh yea,... and she wanted the older rear deck lid. The 68 deck lid had a flat spot where the lisence plate attached. It looked GAY so it got thrown away.
Here it is primed and blocked. I put it on a trailer and towed to a friends body shop for the trick paint.
Got in the spray booth @ 6 pm on Friday and sprayed a sealer.
After a 20 minute bake, I sprayed the top color. After another 20 minute bake, we covered the top and sprayed the bottom. Notice the color??? It's the left over "Burnt orange" from the '34 Ford job.
15 minutes later the top was unmasked and the clear was blown on. After 30 minutes @ 160*, we unmasked it and went home. Got home @ 11:50 PM. Not bad for a 6 hr paint job.
We lowered the front suspension 5".

Threw on some old craigers and 60 series tires. Rear tires are obviously too small.

Picked up some Hoosiers. and lowered the rear 4".

FINALLY got it out for a quick ride.
