Here's a little about my syetem.

The car is a 2000 Dodge Stratus SE.
No mods, no stickers, no BS. Its a family car with 2 freaking 18's in the trunk. Thats it.

Some folks have inquired about the unusualness of the install, I'm going to explain a little more in detail of why the overall system is a little out of the ordinary.

First, the look of simplicty. The DEH-P940MP controls everything. One unit, no outboard crossovers or EQ's, etc. When you first look at the car, you see 2 woofs, and a comp set and a head unit. Thats it. Its what lies beneath the cloak that makes it fun.

Head Unit: Pioneer Premier DEH-P940MP
Crossover settings:
Low, 80hz, 18dB slope, mono, -13dB (bass knob off the 700T handles the volume)
Midlow, 80hz, 18dB slope, 0dB
Midhigh, 5khz, 18dB slope, -2dB
High, 5khz, 18dB slope, +1 dB

I've re-adjusted since the P1R days. I don't compete and just like to play around with it now that I have the bass knob installed within the center console. :)

Front Speakers: Aura MR6.1
Now for the folks who run kick panels, when in the normal driving postion, the image isn't eye level..its low. Steering wheel low. I don't like that, hence I've never used them. But in my goal of going off the deep end, I decided to do a hybrid of a kick location (along with the 940's time alignment, worked out great) But what about the image? Well, either two ways will deal with this. One, you can butcher the crossover settings (some folks will do this with some additional time, expereince and help) or add a little something in the dash area. Which I did. I added a pair of tweets to the mix within the dash area and bandpassed them with a added crossover of 2khz ran off the output intended for the mids and cutoff at 5khz.

With time alignment tuned, off 2 IASCA CD's (I use them both along with other test cd's), the center voice will appear slightly down, a bit to the left and behind the rearview mirror. I don't like it totally center, but it is possible with a bit of tweaking.

Amps: US Amps 4300X for the front and US Amps 700T for the subs.

The amps are located in the back seat. Both of them. As of yet, they are still on sliding bolts for easy extraction if needed. The bottom amp runs the front speakers and the top is bridged to the subs.

Subs: (2) Aura 1808 18"

These subs require large ported enclousres or beefy sealed smaller enclousres...I had to go this route. ;) They are highly efficent, pro concert series woofers. I bought them mainly as collector items then anything else. They are truly conversation peices.

The blindfold test:
Using a few "test" friends, the following are the imaging results..

Center image is slightly left of dead center of windshield when using instructor voice off of IASCA cd's.

Using the left and right voice test, the voices appeared slightly lower then the A pillers (to the left and a bit up of the vent for those familer with the Stratus) and seemed to come from inside the door in that area, not quite out of the car yet..

Using Yanni's Live at the Acropolis CD as a wide musical reference, the apparent symphony was resting beyond the windshield, about windsheild wiper area. Bass was located up front with the rest of music except on very heavy loud passages where it appeared to the listeners that it began to envelope them, pulling back away from the front, but not in the trunk area. Still, not too terrible with 6.5's and 18's.

This is how the system is typically setup for daily listening...but can do quite nicely during SPL runs. I don't have any recent measurement sheets to post on the web and no recent shows here in my area to get them. Don't worry, its loud. Its not competition (150+) loud, but it can get quite loud.

Wiring:
RCA's are Scosche EFX series. I used to run three sets of Audiobahns pro line, but one suddenly gained a short after being in the same untouched location for 2+ years. Audiobahn wouldn't touch it. So out they went, not to return. Power cable is 2 Guage weilding cable that runs from engine area, through the driverside frame rail to the rear seat area and up into amp area. Ground is located on seatbelt bolt that goes into car.
