1984 Ford Ranger, 2WD longbed. 2.8V6 5Spd factory. Now 1978 4Bolt 350 small block chevy,GM 700R4 lockup O/D transmission, mild .460ish cam, Performer dual plane intake, HEI ignition, double roller timing set, 96 4.3 Blazer serpentine set up with CS130 alternator, S10 V8 headers fit and are in. 2000 explorer 8.8" 31 spline rear end, A lot of new sheet metal- Cab corners.. floor pans.. bed sides.. etc. If it has a bubble of rust.. replace it! Why a SBC? Fits better than a 302 SBF. No sheetmetal beating, no cutting up heater box, no funky oil pans.. This took literally one day to mock and fab. standard GM mounts and clams onto the factory Ford crossmember. The left mount had to be shifted back on a 10" long .50" steel plate to sit on the odd crossmember. The right side mount needed a couple inch plate added toward to front to line up. I have the motor pretty far forward so I can have plenty of room for timing and bellhousing access. I am using electric fans so there is no clearance issue up front. This can also be done by still keeping the fact. Toyo 5 speed with an adapter plate, but they explode to easy.. plus I wanted an automatic with o/d so the 700R4 fits the bill with a bastard u-joint. These are crap pics, but they give an idea. I will post more later. All this cause I wanted to pull a trailer. Update 7/9/2008 -- Power steering is done, all my autometer electric gauges are ready to go, sending units all installed, hood is obviously done (thanks Barney!) Flowmasters done, 2002 Exploder booster and master cyl. swap done, aluminum 2.08 roller heads ready to go on. Maybe ready for body and paint -1992 Nissan Charcoal Pearl Metallic. This is all for now, Chris

I don't know what CarDomain has done to the site, but I can't change pictures and everything is all shifted now. Flash based piece of crap! Just can't leave well enough alone huh?

My current status is Ohio winter showed up and it's parked somewhere under a pile of snow.. She gone be stuck for a while. As of right now the interior for the most part is in, everything is pretty well wired, all done in locking Molex connectors for easy service. All the audio cables are ran, and the truck runs and drives. It's not even remotely tuned.. I switched to a double pumper carb and screwing with jetting and squirters.. still killing plugs and have not even put a timing light on it yet just tuned by ear. Plus had a massive fire at the shop a week before christmas and everything is a total loss, exhaust bender, welder, tire machine, both scan tools and WAY to many Snap-On tools and boxes.. so right now at the mercy of the insurance monsters.

Well after dragging my feet the little project is finally moving forward after a few month hiatus. I have ditched the interior idea and sticking with a more conventional Ranger interior, just "upgraded". It should be moving to body work in the next week or so as all the mechanicals are all sorted. Oh, and the rear axle is now a 2000 Exploder 3.73 LS disk axle, I just have to do the master cylinder and booster. Then I FINALLY get to do want I really want, and wire it all.

Those are old school chevy TPI manifolds I had laying around the shop just to fire the motor. S10 2WD headers will work as I tried them and they will be on there in the next week or so, the S10 V8 conversion headers are already set up so the steering shaft actually goes through the header tubes. You have to remove the steering shaft to install the headers then slide the shaft through the header and reinstall the upper and lower bolts. It's much easier than it sounds. I had to set the motor quite forward due to the 4.3`Blazer power steering pump would hit the steering box. but it worked out great so I can do headers, have ample room for the HEI dist., bellhousing clearance, and run a mechanical fuel pump with plenty of room to spare. The pics look really bad cause I am still mocking things out and adjusting valves and what not. Now I can start the pretty stuff like wiring and final assembly. I will post more later.
