Empty engine bay.  I had a tree growing in there.

The reason for the swap.  The diff pin ate my tranny.

The new DOHC(only 12k on it).......$200 for it

All done and runs

Got the engine running, but I still needed the powersteering pump bracket and a new belt.  Oh yeah and exhaust.

I would like to thank everyone that has helped with the project: Shadd L. Kremer, Anthony Rhon, Brandon Alley, but no thanks to Tom Miller who tried to steal my fog lights.

hi thanks for the comment, the reason I decided to go with KA it's because it will be handeling some serious boost, not that I deslike the redtop or RB it's just that I have benn going a lot with this engine, Im kinda really likingto work with it.

Wow, I guess the vast majority of the diff pins out there on Saturns are fragile. I have heard that a lot, that diff pins blow out after doing pretty much nothing, I was just hoping that there might be one lucky transmission that was driven hard somewhere out there. Your car is the only one where I actually see the damage that thing can do, in the transmission picture you have. Jeez, that is a painful failure. Like I thought that you might be able to rebuild that kind of tranny after that, but I forgot how weak the aluminum is in the case, there's a hole right through it! It looks like there is nothing you could salvage out of a diff pin failed transmission. Well, all I can say is, good luck with the winter, I will probably want to get some snow tires, because for the past 4 years, slippage has been scary, but I guess I am more lucky than you. It hasn't even snowed here yet. Peace! ~Philip

Luckily, I really can't do burnouts of any real length with my automatic, just a long chirp that lasts about 1/2 a second, and I refuse to do a 'neutral drop', that's against common sense to me. However, without traction control it is easy to slip in the snow, where I live. I was wondering, did it blow in the middle of a burnout for you? If it did, were you like a 'hellion on wheels', doing burnouts a lot, or did it blow after your first burnout. How fragile is the diff pin? I know it is a catastrophic failure when it goes, but would normal slippage in snow get it to blow? Just being curious. Nice paint job too, I hope my other car turns out as well as your car did. Peace! ~Philip
