May 30 we fired up the engine for the first time. Lots of anxiety to hear it run !! A couple of minor coolant leaks to fix but it sounds wonderfully powerful and real loud through the unmuffled 3" exhaust.
May 31 we attended the all Mopar show in Nampa, Idaho. Entered in the Competition Mopar class with 7 other cars , Miss DD brought home a 3rd place plaque. This was her first public appearance after she was 100% finished and created quite a stir among the troops !
Special thanks to; Emmett Valley Glass (Lexan), Bill Buckner Motors (engine parts), John Corn (body prep and paint), Tim Heideman (upholstery modifications), CCIDVR (in car video system). All of Emmett, Idaho.

Air dam and side skirts Preventing excess amounts of 'dragging' air from going under the car is the main purpose of air dams. Combined with side skirts also creates a low pressure area under the car(down force/vacuum),which in turn HELPS air flow THROUGH the engine room. Without some sort of low pressure area under the front,'AIRFLOW DAMMING' can occur within the engine compartment thus lessoning airflow THROUGH the radiator(OVER HEATING).That's why you see those little plastic air dams on pickups and vans.
The theory behind my particular air dam design is as follows; 1st,getting the air intakes out in clean air and 2nd, effective air control around the front of the car and yet less down force ie; tire heat producing down force/added weight. Tire failure is the one biggest issue in long distance high speed driving. I may be out to lunch on this design but we;ll know pretty soon just how far ! June 21 in Wendover at the Bonneville 100.
Rear diffuser and exhaust exit .Using the 3" exhaust tubing UNDER the rear axle and then rectangular tubing at the very end helps direct and control the airflow under and out of the rear of the car. The upswept sheet metal helps create a low pressure area(down force/vacuum), thus helping to keep the rear planted. Combined with the long rear wing(leverage)and thusly less spoiler angle needed(less drag), will create less drag area at the rear.

Will be installing an Air Inlet Systems ram air setup. Forced air intake will come through prepared headlight openings and routed along 4" flexible hose.

The reason for the 'leg boards' are twofold. Support, something to rest your legs against without stressing them out. Containment, in case of a high speed barrel roll they keep your legs from getting slung into places you never dreamed possible.

25 gallon Fuel Safe fuel bladder system. I can upgrade to a 32 gallon without any modifications. At $7 a gallon.....$175/$224 respectively. It'll STILL cost more to TOW to the races than to RACE the races !!

Missed out on getting to and running in the Bonneville 100 this year. Just couldn't get enough money together in time to make the trip and pay entry fee. Am shooting for the Pony Express 130 in August on the 24th. All dressed up and couldn't get to the dance ! After 3 1/2 years in building this car it's quite frustrating to say the least !

July 5-6 we'll be in the Northwest Motorfest in Boise. The exposure for my sponsors who helped build the car will be very high. I'll be also talking with potential sponsors to help get us to and into the PE130.

Below is the unit patch for the 116th Cavalry Brigade of the National Guard. They have an armory here in Emmett whose members served in Iraq. A great bunch of regular folks doing an extraordinarily tough job.
