Welcome to the 85 Monte Carlo SS pages. My wife has always been after me to get one and I had the 6 mile to the gallon Blazer on craigslist and the owner of the Monte had it on there as well so I made an even trade.
The 85 Montes come with a high output 305 small block and a 4 speed trans but a past owner switched this car to a 3 speed. When I heard 305 I thought "How wimpy" but after reading up on it has many Camaro and Corvette parts used, heads, cam etc. The interior is clean the T Tops are awsome, can't wait for summer.
It is 22 below zero and not supose to get much better all week so although I am embarrassed by the pics I'm not going to be able to get better ones for awhile.
I always wondered what made an SS an SS and after a lot of research found out they have the best of everything Chevy has to offer with parts and styling coming from Camaro. Corvette , and originally Chevelle. Not too shabby.
Overall the car is solid and rust free, has some paint issues but very clean still. Paint I can deal with, a few of my past rides were pretty rusted so this is a welcome change. I believe the rims to be off of a 86 but maybe they put them on late 85s as well, who knows? Thanks for checking it out and I will get better pictures and get it looking more like something your used to seeing out of me as temps rise here in artic Minnesota.
On a side note I can see people wanting to personalize their rides but some cars just don't deserve what they have done to em.A shelby Cobra should'nt have tru's and vogues, Berettas have no need for a 54" carbon fiber wing, a restored 66 mustang should'nt have a piss on Chevy sticker on the window and a Monte Carlo SS should'nt be rolling on 24" rims. I'm sorry but that's just disrespectful and idiotic. Donk out Grandmas ole box but leave the SS alone. Rate my cars crappy if you want, it's just how I feel.
