Just started building my 1990 Cherokee. It's one of the less common 2-door Laredo models with a 5-speed stick. Has Dana 30(f) and 35(r) axles and the 4.0L inline-6.
I use the XJ for Home Depot runs mostly, but would like to build it up with some basic things to allow it to do some mild wheeling and make it look decent.
So far, nothing much special, but here's a list of the current upgrades (or downgrades, depending on how you look at things).
-31x10.5 BF Goodrich A/T KO tires on factory star wheels
-3" (measured) lift front and rear with mystery 3" coil spring in the front and mystery AAL in the rear
-Skyjacker hydro shocks. Not the best, but they're fine for my purposes
-Old Man Emo steering stabilizer
-1" ebay wheel spacers up front
-1.25" Spidertrax wheel spacers in back
-Skyjacker front swaybar quick-disconnects
-all new carpeting on the inside
-custom mounts for hi-lift jack, fire extinguisher, maglite, etc
-custom 48x60" Blackout Fabrications safari rack mounted on Thule crossbars
-Hella 550 yellow fogs on bumper
-Hella 550 floods on rack
-old-ass Uniden CB with Wilson Silver Load antenna custom mounted on rack
-3rd brakelight and some interior panels from various newer XJs
-alot of messy wiring
