Okay so this page im going to write a few words on the history of how i came across this car.
First, here's a build thread i've started at vistangers.ca
the original owner bought it off the lot. drive it around for about 3 years. she has some engine problems and instead of fixing the car she parked it and bought something more tame for her liking.
grandson came around many years later, and grandma had this car in her garage for ever. she told grandson if you can get it running please take it home. so he called the tow truck and had it towed to his garage where he pulled the motor and sent it to a motor shop and told them "fix it when you get the chance, no hurry". it took the motor shop almost a year before they could get a look at it. they found the timing chain had split. they phoned buddy and told him, and he said to replace it and might as well refresh it, honing, rings, gaskets, bearings. he got the motor back and installed it, then drove it from vic to duncan twice, then for some reason stored it. (i dont know the reason)
my neighbour went to vic to work at midas and his boss's son was this guy with the car. since my neighbour needed wheels and Son had it sitting around, they agreed on taking money off his pay cheque. he only worked there for about 2 months and never paid a dime for it. he moved back home and was driving it around, but was complaining on the gas and not working and needing something better on fuel. so i just happened to have a '96 cavalier in my back yard doing a fantastic job holding the gravel down. so one day we traded pinks. straight up. he ended up with a '96 cavalier with 26x,xxx km's, almost depleated clutch, been hammered on hard, blowin blue smoke.
and i ended up with a 1979 capri ghia 5.0 with 83,xxx original km's. the car still had the factory michelin METRIC tires and rims (TRX). the engine had all the factory parts (water pump, alternator, heater core, etc).
