'77 Dodge Colt 4dr.
The Story of this Colt up to 1/12/08
This car was given to my by my Great Aunt. It has been in storage for 28 years, It has been in the family since '77, new. She needs the space now and nobody wanted to buy it. My Dad told her that we could fix it. I need another car that gets good fuel economy to get to work and for running the fam around. My Eclipse is broke :-( , and we have a running Taurus and Grand Cherokee. I would like to park the GC.
I'll take 30mpg over the leather seats right now...
That 95 Taurus gets 27-30 on it's 3.0L v6. 107k miles. So 2 vehicles that get good milage like that will help alot right now.
The Condition I got it in.
50k original miles. Burgundy with white interior. 1.6L Saturn , 3spd. auto. Has the Freeway Cruiser package with all the extra gauges. No A/C, No Cruise. FM radio. All original. I have the original bill of sale, owners manual and all supporting documentation! $4,300 brand new in '77, at the local dealership.
And the car is in amazing condition. Some paint blemishes and very minor ding. Interior just developed a split on the dash on the passenger side. But all that needs done is everything cleaned really well. This car is going to look beautiful once its cleaned up!! Under the hood is just as nice!
Future Plans:
I guess you could technically call this a light restoration job. Not much to do besides clean it and replace any failed mechanical components. More than likely she'll pick up a couple "improvements" along the way :-P
But I'm going to TRY to not turbo it and leave it factory. Even though it would be such a sweet drifter. It IS RWD you know. I am going to TRY to keep it nice and OEM. Seriously... LOL!

Well, Dad and I found that the fuel pump failed. I never had a vehicle with manual fuel pump before :-P 40 bucks at Advanced, pretty cheap on ebay if we want to wait. Then we get to see if the jets in the carb are clogged or not. Hopefully the fuel pump and battery is all she needs! Hope it's runnin soon so I can wash it and everything.

We found our fuel delivery problem #2. Fuel pump works great, carb is not clogged. Lines from the tank to the engine bay are good. There is a clog in the tank. I'm guessing the strainer filter. We are dropping the tank this weekend. We are almost there :-). She runs great if ya get fuel in the carb. Fires right up. Stay tuned!
