2007 TOYOTA COROLLA ASCENT
This is our brand new (December 07 built) Toyota Corolla hatch.
This is the first brand new car I've ever bought so it is a big event for me. It may be a base model corolla but hey its new and its mine.
The decision came after a recent trip down south in out Kia. The wife who I had been genetly encouraging for a while to get a new car to replace it, decided after a long trip with the Kia's many shortcomings that yes we needed to get rid of it. So car shopping we went. Took us all of about half a morning to buy the corolla. Rather to short for me to enjoy the whole car shopping thing but we got exactly what we wanted. This is the poor out going family wagon. It did us well for a couple of years but they really are just throw away cars.
It has a funky center console thats raised up. In Australia only the hatchbacks have it at the moment. The sedans still have a center console on the floor. I like the round style gauge cluster. Suits my sports car spirit and goes well next to my zed's set of gauges. There is a alot of cabin space too.
So Old Skool meets new. Pictured here is the freshly washed and waxed rolla. The car yard tried to sell this paint protector and fabric protector but it was worth 2.5 grand. OUCH!! So I figured some top shelf car wax, scotch guard for the fabric and vynal proctector would do the trick and save a bucket load over the life time that the vehicle will be with me. Anyway back to the point the celica looks so much smaller.
Got a cool funky split mirror helps with blinds spots. First car I've noticed with one. I'm sure they are more common but the mirror isn't something I usually look at on new cars.
So plans for the rolla? Well we got tint included as part of the deal when we bought it. The car yard stuffed up the delivery and the car wasn't ready when they said it would be. Its getting tint in a weeks time now. Should be good. Nice 35% tinting. Next will be some mag wheels when we can afford them. A set of nice 16s or 17s. Yes small by today's standards but hey I'm fairly old skool and this car is only a small car in my books. The 15 stock wheels seem pretty big on it for me. After that I don't know... Got any reasonable suggestions?
