Dan's 2001 Saab 9-5 Aero
This is my Saab. It is a 9-5 Aero with 5 speed manual transmission and a turbocharged 2.3 litre four cylinder. On top of the standard equipment, my car features the stage 3 upgrade kit from Taliaferro Imports, bringing it to 300 horsepower and 325 pounds of torque at the crank. In addition it also has a more robust Forge piston diverter valve, to handle the excess pressure. No hissing blowoff valves for these Saabs!
On the outside, it is essentially stock, but does feature the Saab "double three" option rims, which are rare to begin with, and even more so on 9-5s. Ever since I bought this car in 2005 I wanted these wheels, and as of January 2008 I finally have them! To give it an extra Swedish feel, my Saab also has an EU license plate in front, complete with my actual Illinois plate number.
On the inside the car is stock, with tan leather and woodgrain dash. I really enjoy the interior of the Saab 9-5, as I think do most people. It has a very driver-centric design. The controls literally wrap around the driver.
This car is very fun to drive and feels pretty darn fast. It also has great wet weather performance. Besides being slightly faster than my 1996 Camaro Z28 (which you can see in my garage), it is also way more reliable, way more luxurious, way more fuel efficient, has more interior space, and is all around better built.
And rear passengers even enjoy heated seats! Yay!
