Mopar-Steve500's 1967 Pontiac GTO                                                    UPDATE 4/24/09

My last trip to Cyprus was in september 2008 where i went to visit my Dads car again, i took more pictures that i have to add, i actually found a short cut to visit my dads 67 gto on my last trip to Cy rather than climbing a mountain which sucks and is dangerous it take about 30 minuits longer walk but its farther and theyer are snakes and stuff there too so its still dangerous, but hey love danger what can i say.... i took some more pictures on my second trip there in september , i heard the river at the bottom is flooding and the car will never be seen again we will find out im eager to go again this summer.. Recently over the past few months the drought in cyprus has been shockingly amazingly, strangely over for the last 10 years they rarely saw any rain, well this year that all changed, its been raining soo much things have been flooding like crazy rivers have been filled dams are flowing and theyer is more wild life than ever, from whatthey tell me i'll never see the car again and its buried its self and is under water... kinda sad but i hope its not  true, although when i took pixx the 2nd time it appers the car has shifted and moved.....

Get Ready This Is A Good One!
I am currently gathering the final bit of information for my story, from my family and relatives in cyprus an island near greece while im here in cyprus on vacation, Writing about my fathers legendary 1967 pontiac GTO he built up in the 70's . This story actually gives me the chills writing about. so im taking my time not to leave out any details. When my Dad was young he built a suped up 1967 GTO in the mid 70's when he was about 25. My dad took a euro vacation trip to greece and then to cyprus by boat bringing along his suped up 1967 Pontiac GTO!i have a fully documented collection of pictures my Dad took on his trip which ended very tragicaly, I have included pictures of the car beeing lifted on to the boat along with a dozen pics of my father they also include the places he went to and visited with my dad and his shinning Pontiac GTO!!! as well as the tragic pics of what was to come. While he was in cyprus at somepoint during his trip, he was driving back home from a wedding with his 3 friends down what may be the most tretchorous mountain rodes only the pictures, can describe, the danger of this thin steep curvy dirt mountain road. As my dad was driving the car making a blind turn the car caught the edge of the mountain leaving the GTO hanging by its treads when all of a sudden GTO flew off the side of the cliff tumbling down the steep mountain destroying the car and my fathers best friend dying in the accident. more than 30 something years later well my dad got married and i was born. my father and myself are mechanics and we own and restored a 1968 dodge charger and a 1973 dodge charger, i now 20 years old remember when i was 5 years old the first time my dad showing me the photo album of his trip telling me stories of this suped up GTO he once had! since then i fell in love with muscle cars and promised to my self someday im going to find that car! my father until this day will not speak of this terrible accident and wishes to never see these pictures again. I travel to cyprus quite often to visit my family and for the last 4 years ive searched for the car, the mountain and the cliff and all areas high and low with no luck whatso ever. searching the dangerous steep rocky mountains for pieces related to the GTO which every one claimed was buried in the forests and couldnt be seen and was destroyed to pieces and burried in the remaining asphalt that was made to widen the rode. this didnt stop me i was determined to find my fathers legendary GTO. On my current trip to Cyprus i was told there was a fire that spread and burned all the surrownding mountains and left nothing and there was no more forest, very eager determined to find this car. My uncle took me down the road where the accident happened in 1971 he knew where it was, and he just pointed down. As i then was pointed down in the direction of what my possible be the area the car rests i made a mark from the road. GTO in letters went home and prepared my self in gear, to make my journey, which was my way to climb down the mountain. I was warned by my family not to go because of how steepand dangerous this cliff was .... Wasnt stopping me! i got my cousin whos in the army to go down with me even he was scared i was far too excited that i was going to find My Dads GTO.

sorry about the poor quality of some of the pixx im working on getting a scanner to scan the originals i am also in the process of completing the story there are some things that happened thats just chilling..., keep checking for updates thankyou, -steve

the picture i included shows the mountain and if you look close at the top right you see the road with the guard rails they just put up a couple years ago shows the exact curve where the car tumbled down the cliff, you cant see the car from any angle even from the surrownding mountain because at the bottom it drops to about 18 feet straight down in a ditch it took me like an hour and a half to slowly climb down you couldnt get the car out only with a crazy crane or a helicopter

my dad told me that in the 70's someone (my uncle) who my father is not very fond of and i dislike him also..., went down there without permission with tools and stole my dads radiator waterpump intake manifold and cylinder head to sell it to the iron workers to make money wen he had no right to, and ruined the engine i guarantee it would have been still good if he didnt take the head off

If you look closely at this picture sorry for the poor quality, you can see the car just a bit with family members and people gathered around it
