Hi this my dads pride and joy! He passed away in June of 2005, and this page is for my dad. This truck brought our family together and got my dad out of his bedroom. Dad got the truck late 96 and it was the first ext cab Dakota sold in NY. He has a gold metal he got when he bought it. Dad has always been into custom cars and bikes, in 1976 riding his Harley to work a lady back out in front of him. He smashed his left side of his body into the rear side of a 98 olds taking off the bummer. His leg hip and hip joint was busted in 10 pieces, his back was messed up as well. He spent almost a year in the hospital. The doctors said they didn't think he would ever walk again, but his hardhead never say die and give up attitude keep him going. He walked and even became a very good bowler again. But as he got old his body started to give out and the broken bones from the past started taking a toll. He started to spend a lot time in his room and was really down and depressed. But when he got the truck things changed we started to get involved with him fixing it up and going to local shows. He did really well in them and decided to try the ISCA circuit in 99-00. We started late that year and still did pretty well, Then the next year was his best his truck took BEST MILD PICKUP in 00-01 season he was national champion in his class and also made the top 10 in all ISCA for 2001. It was also in MOPAR NOW magazine and was put in the center fold and on the cover as well .The truck brought us all together working on it that .We all ended up getting some kind of custom car to go with dad to the shows and cruises. There is 4 boys in our family with all custom cars, a 86 Monte Carlo SS, 86 Trans-Am 1973 Dodge Charger and a 1956 Plymouth.
Now for the Truck its a 1997 Dodge Dakota SLT ext cab it has a magnum V6 with an upgrade chip and custom duel exhaust system. The body has a complete body kit with custom hood and fiberglass hard cover with wing. The rear has a roll pan molded in. The paint is fire red clear coat with 4 different shades of candy purple and pearl white. There is 2 custom paintings one is air brushed on the top of the hard cover and the other is hand painted Indian chief on the tailgate. The inside has velvet custom tailored seats and tuck and roll headliner with the bed area rugged with a complete entertainment center in a hand made wooden cabinet. The engine bay has been done all over in chrome and wire loom with many custom parts. The truck has been lowered 4 inches and rides on custom wheels and tires. The truck was my dads life. It keep him going for a lot years and we enjoyed spending time with him with it. He took his last ride in his truck just the way he would had wanted it to his final resting place where a head stone has a picture of his pride and joy his 1997 Dodge Dakota!! LOVE and MISS you DAD always!!!

Awesome job. Awesome truck. Awesome tribute. I know exactly how you feel with the loss of your dad. Lost mine in March of 2005 and my mother in June of 2007. Really nice and touching tribute. Your Dad would be proud.
