All dolled up and rolling at Gingerman. Thanks to Hector Padilla over at 00photo for the framed shots. This is from 2006 with MIVE at track school. It's not easy throwing 3300 pounds of wagon around the (flat) course at Gingerman, but it can be done. Far more fun is going to Grattan - this car is a natural through turn three and cambers through the toilet bowl with no input needed. I'll have some Grattan pics after April when MIVE heads out there for 2008. Snow tyres on the track, anyone?

Ooo, fab work! The grille got cracked up, so I made a new one. Say hello to the first official girl! racing car part - the 1/2" hex mesh grille. I welded that up and powdercoated it black. I've had people walk up to me and tell me they love it. Apparently, having a large, gaping hole in your front end is chic right now. ;-)

The 1.8t benefits from the driver knowing what is going on under the bonnet. So I put in some extra gauges - voltage because I grew up with British cars and electrical problems are my nemesis, oil pressure because it's a known weak point with the longitudinal 1.8t, and manifold pressure because it's good to know when the boost is boosting. Stay in vac, girlfriend, save me some gas money!

I've somehow managed to become Ms 1.8t of the Passat community, and one day that translated into lots of hoses from Samco being delivered to me for testing purposes. That's a lot of hose.

Hey, Katherine, are you much of a Volkswagen historian? I was wondering if you knew whether or not the Type 4 was imported to America, know anything about that?
