Not a big update, but I have been doing some welding and painting on the Fairmont... I have been welding up holes in the engine bay, and finished welding the underside of the SFC's. I also cut one coil off of my front springs and wire wheeled and painted them, the front was sitting a tad high for me, but the rear was perfect.

Alright, no picture updates today, but I finally ordered my Axles and spool! I ordered the Strange 33 spline Axles and the Strange Spool as well. Next week I'll hopefully be ordering a Trickflow diff girdle as well as a brace for the back of the racing seat, that will be welded on the cage. Still waiting on the rear end to be narrowed... Taking alot longer then I thought :( lol.

I also finished welding up my drivers side SFC, and painted it and the floor all with POR-15. I also have the drivers side rear wheel well almost finished, and I may start the drivers side today. I'll have to get pics.

Not a whole lot has been done... Still waiting on the rear end... Oh well, money is tight so progress is slow. Still got a bit of body work done, both to the hood and the glass fenders. I ran out of paint so It dosnt look great, but the areas that got a few good coats look pretty good. The hoods getting there, theres just lots of sanding to do, but once its done, and its painted I should be able to finally make a mold of it! lol. Dash is out too, I need to fix a few areas from previous abuse but thats alright, I also need to make something nice to fit in the area the radio currently occupies.

Well, I've been slacking on the pics again. I've finished one side of the floor, exept for the roll cage, but ran out of gas for the welder. So Once I get gas for my welder i'll be welding up a seat mount then I'll paint the that side. Next on my to do list is to weld the south side bar brackets to the rear end housing, and then paint the housing again.. lol Then I'll hopefully be getting some 33 spline axels and a spool, and 4:10's. Oh, I also finished welding in the patch in the trunk, and painted it up. So the trunks ready for a fuel cell.

August 8th 09

Finally brought my rear end to chassis shop(or whatever you'd call it...) to be narrowed, I also finally figured out it will need to be narrowed 1 and 3/4" each side so my slicks will fit. It should be back in like a month... or so. Now I need to get some axels, a spool and 4:10's. I also need to hit up a wreking yard and get some drum parts, like backing plates.

No pics today, but I will post some up of the finished trunk and the finished floor asap.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

I cut out all that rust today, so finally 99% of the holes are welded up now :D, I just need to find any pinholes, and make sure I havent missed anything lol.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

The patch pannel, I trimmed it a bit more to fit but didnt take  pic, it sat in the hole better with the peices still on lol. I'll have to take another pic tonight of it all done. I had to grind the weld smooth first ;) lol.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

A couple updated pics of the floor. I still need to grind down the welds on the patches above the rear frame rails.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

A better pic of the patches in the rear. Not perfert, but strong. I'm not going for looks on this car lol.

July 14 09

Got some more shit done... I found another hole too which sucks but what can you do... The rear end is getting narrowed up this week too.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

Stripped the rear end so I can bring it to the guy to get it narrowed.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

Mocking up my hoodscoop on my hood(my buddys car though, its more together)

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

Cleaned up the edges and sanded the lip where it will be bonded to the hood.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

Took the area where the scoops going to be down to bare metal.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

The disk is to help hold it down lol, I also put in 4 rivits per side to help hold it down, once its dry I will grind them out.

June 22nd 09

I've been lazy on updating this.. lol I'm slowly getting shit done... SFC's are almost in, the patch for the spare tire well has been tacked in, I got a cam(B303, nothing fancy but the price was right), and I pulled a scoop off of my dads mold. Its not perfect but it will do the trick :). Hpefully this week my rear end will finally be sent in to get 9" ends welded on.... but well see.

May 10th 09

Its been way to long but after paying off my debts and my court/ticket BS work has started again. I've gotten my one SFC just about in and the other side will be done asap. I'm picking up a set of heads for my engine and then I'll be getting started on the rear end. So i'll be updating alot more hopefully LOL.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

I put mine all the way into the rear frame rails, hopefully it will make the car stiffer.

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

I pie cut the bar so it would slide right into the frame rails. Once I made sure everything would fit correctly I welded the cuts back up.

 Ready for welding.

 fox5o's 1979 Ford Fairmont

I thought I took pics of it welded in but i Guess not, i'll post some up asap.
