Finish bodywork has been a pain. A friend who is a body man (Duane Williams - thanks!) helped me out a bunch with smoothing the quarter panels and getting it straight. He also taught me how to block sand. These pictures were taken just before paint.
Block sanding and more block sanding is the key - at least 5 times over the whole car. When the paint went on it was (almost) perfectly straight with just a couple of very small waves in each door. I have never done body work before but the car is beautiful. Block sand and block sand again!!!

I welded up the gap between the quarter panels and the rear valence. I also closed up the cowl vents. We'll see how well this works in reality. I saw another Mustang with this done and it looked nice. Hopefully it is welded enough so it won't crack when the car flexes.
Dusty, but ready for paint.

I painted the door jams, the area around the windshield and back window, and the area below the hood and the firewall, as well as the underside of the trunk lid. Since I didn't know how long it would be before my painter could do the car, I painted around the windshield and back window so I could install those if it's going to be a while before paint. Luckily, he got it painted before I was ready for the glass.
The paint is Ford 1998-2008 Redfire Metallic (Nason Base/Clear Coat). (See the pictures with paint.)
