See the distance on that Tacoma? He was coming from the left of the frame when he collided with the 240Z making a left turn. Onlookers said this 240 was the last in line to make the turn---two others had turned in front of him, and that the Tacoma 'ran the light'. I didn't see any skid marks. I guess making that light when people are already in the intersection turning was more important.
From the Northwest Corner of Sepulveda and Normandie intersection...in this photo, the Tacoma would have been coming from the RIGHT of the frame--you see where it ended up. This is the intersection where Rickie & Ronnie's Diner is located. Great venue for a car show, but seemingly cursed when it comes to Z-Cars!
Frame was bent so badly, the driver's door could not be opened. They tried with the claw, and eventually took the suggestion that the right side door may open.
Off to harbor UCLA Trauma Center. Broken Clavicle on the left side. Driver commented later that he had 'cinched his seat belts down really well' before leaving and was glad he did!
The rescue workers were commenting on how badly the car was mashed up, and how the dashboard got all banged up...it's possible the driver's hand slipped off the wheel at impact and broke out all the gauges in the center pod---that would explain the contusions and abrasions on his right hand!
Closeup of the Impact Side of the equation. That black thing across the front of the car is some bumper covering from the Toyota Tacoma.
The nice polished six-spoke stock alloy on this corner is 'oval' now...not round!
I guess this is what you call a 'raked' stance---but not the way I'd want to achieve it.
