The front brakes have been upgraded to slotted ventelated rotors, you can really feel the bite a whole lot more than the standard ones. They look fantastic behind the sad looking stock rims
The new steering wheel and gearknob look good in the car.
hopfully soon to come will be a road legal rollbar with harness mounts and racing seats to help out with the interior.
I have also spaced the bonnet, as i have an engineering background (im studying engineering at university currently), i decised to see if this increased flow through the radiator, vents/bonnet openings in the wrong place can reduce radiator efficiency which is usually a bad thing. I only spaced it by 5mm but after testing it revealed that under bonnet pressure was almost halved.
Weight reduction is the easiest way to make your car faster. Ive started by removing the heat sheild that sheilded the stock muffler, as my exhaust didnt run that way i dont think i need it. Then i stripped the carpet and sound deadening from the boot and the plate that protects the fuel filler. luckily i dont keep anything other than the tool kit in the boot. if i notice any damage ill put the plate back in.
Using my trusty Gtech meter, i did some 0-60 runs and got a consistant 8.44sec with only a medium launch (from 2k rpm). that was before weight reducton started and with a passanger and a boot full of tools. Not bad considering the factory stated is 8.8sec
I got to go to the drag strip, unfortunatly they make you wear a helmet and because im over 6' tall, i dont fit with a helmet with the top up, hard top or soft top, so there was a fair bit of drag.
Im hoping to get a sports seat so i can fit in the car with the roof whilst wearing a helmet so i can get rid of the exces drag.
The drag coefficent goes from 0.38 with the top up to a massive 0.44 with it down. so i think with the top on il be able to reduce the time significantly. the quoted stock time is 16.8, and got consistant 16.7's so with the top i reckon i can drop it down a bit.
