googooflexy's 1987 Toyota Supra
This is my 1987 Toyota Supra. I bought it off of a friend for $50 without an engine or transmission. It's a targa-top and it looks to have zero rust. So far, I've replaced all body parts with major damage. I've replaced the two front fenders and the hood.googooflexy's 1987 Toyota Supragoogooflexy's 1987 Toyota Supra
Both were damaged from either feet or fists while sitting in a yard for ten years. This car has never been in an accident. I've also replaced some interior but most of that was in perfect condition to start with. The tail lights were painted over in true ghetto fashion with matching-ish paint, so I had to replace those as well. Various accents of the car were painted yellow in an attempt to attain "coolness".googooflexy's 1987 Toyota Supra
The silver tint is VERY illegal and will have to be removed before it hits the road.googooflexy's 1987 Toyota Supra
I don't think this tint would get me very far without a ticket.

The engine is a 380 horsepower chevy 350 I bought from another one of my friends for $880. It's in good working condition and came out of a running car (an 80s malibu). What I'm missing from the engine right now is the various pumps, a carb(holley 4bbl), an air cleaner, and alternator, a distributor, and a transmission to hook it up to. My transmission of choice will be either a 5-speed or 6-speed.

Here are some pictueres of the engine. I've been trying to find out what the engine originally came in. Someone who knows the guy who sold me the engine told me he thought it came out of an 80s Corvette. By looking at the numbers on the block, we've figured out that it came out of a Camaro.
I just replaced the old valve covers with some Edelbrock Elite Series covers.googooflexy's 1987 Toyota Supragoogooflexy's 1987 Toyota Supra
I also grabbed a matching breather.googooflexy's 1987 Toyota Supra

Since this is going to be a fairly unique car, I figured some different emblems should be on the car. It's certainly not going to be a turbo, so I won't need that on there. However, I did always like the MKIV Supra's emblem. So, I ordered one. The idea right now is to put the emblem on the back with the chevy V8 symbol right up in front of it.googooflexy's 1987 Toyota Supra

UPDATE:

I took some trips to autozone, and what I left with was a water pump, an alternator, a chrome alternator bracket, and a new chrome timing chain cover(not necessary)

da pics!

The unnecessary timing chain cover. I did it for the looks

Pics of the alternator when I get a little time to do so.

I'm also gonna start posting my cost list for my own reference...any input on cost savers from you guys would be nice too.

What I've Spent:

1989 Toyota Supra (Used): $50
Chevy 350 Smallblock V-8 (Used): $800
Taillights, Fenders, Hood, and Some Interior (Used): $170
Edelbrock Performer Intake (Used): $80
Duralast Alternator (Used/Rebuilt): $70
Spectre Chrome Timing Chain Cover (New): $20
Spectre Chrome Alternator Bracket (New): $20
New Duralast Water Pump (New): $27

Total So Far: $1,187

What's next:
My goal for this car is to get it running first. I'll concentrate on that, and then I'll start working on looks. So, that means I have some engine components to shop for. I also need a driveshaft, a rear end, and a tranny...not to mention a way to mount the engine up in there. But until all that is done, it's going to remain to look like franken-car.

Not my cup of tea, I like to keep my turbo spooling. But "For each his own". Although I did think of doing this myself when I blew out a bearing and destroyed the crankshaft in mine. Check out my '89 I have updated the page and have gotten a lot further. good luck with the build, keep us posted.
