Candy's Truck
My youngest step-daughter is our family's newest Ranger owner. She's now in her sophomore year in college, technically a junior, and doing very well. She needs transportation now and we wanted to get her what she wanted -- and what she wanted was a truck. And, of course, we know what kind of truck THAT would have to be!
I found a 1998, standard cab, 7 foot bed, gold Ranger XL at a local dealership. 52K miles, clean CarFax report, etc. 2.5L 4 banger, 5 speed manual (she wanted a manual), A/C, bedliner, and a basic AM/FM radio. Got a pretty good deal and it's here waiting for school to be out. Here's some views of the exterior.

The interior is a nice tan with an interesting checked seat pattern. Rubber mats aren't elegant perhaps but are easy to keep clean and I LOVE them in my Ranger Edge. Simple gauge layout with no tach, and the base radio. The interior is in reasonable shape also.
I imagine she'll have her own CarDomain site before long.
So, now we've got 2 Rangers in the family. Now, if I can just talk my wife into getting one...
Update: she's home!
Candice is back from college and we've taken her out to get her used to the truck. She's had 3 coaches now: me, her sister, and my son-in-law and she's gotten insight from all of us to the point where she's doing pretty well. The only sticking point (as it is for everyone striving to master a stick) was starting on hills. But now she's got that down and is using the truck on her own. Go Candice!
Her Mods
She's already all about the mods. She has added 2 speakers to the rear (XL's only come with front speakers with the base radio), she's gotten a AM/FM single CD HU from a 2002 Ford Ranger that the owner upgraded, and a Ranger XLT dome light with the map lights.
Soon she will be adding her own overhead console!
Lastest updates
We still haven't gotten her overhead console in! But we did get some used 225/70R15 tires and wheels to replace the marginal 14" wheels and tires she had. These are Firestone Wilderness HT's and steel wheels that were stock on another Ranger.
Here's some views of the truck showing the new tires and also the clear corners. Candice was given the clear corners for free from someone who was "restyling" their truck. The tires came mounted on the wheels and even coming from Florida with shipping they were worth it. They may have already saved her from an accident!
