The Car -- Saved this DSM from goin to the crusher. Guy I bought it from was going to scrap it for some cash, had it loaded up on the trailer and everything. Then he had some second thoughts since it seemed to be in pretty good condition. I ended up picking it up for $300. Sure it doesnt run but its got a fairly clean body (few dents and key marks) and a nice interior (with a little bit of cleaning needed) and since Ive seen shells for the AWD Talons and Eclipses go for a grand or two it was a steal. Now the guy I bought it from bought it for the turbo and alternator for another car, and the guy he bought it from said that he thought a valve was stuck or something like that.
The Plan (Get it to Run!) Check My Progess!-- Right away I had the car hauled over to my school, that way I can work on it in a heated shop with lifts and just about all the tools I need. Too bad its only for 2 hours a day, 3 days a week, oh well. After having a look around he engine bay, I realized I had a little bit of a mess to clean up. Almost all the wires were disconnected from the engine and they werent labeled, Im missing the fuel pressure regulator, two broken exhaust manifold studs, hoses cut randomly (Im thinking they were in a hurry when taking things off?). So right now Im trying to get this back together enough to try and make it run and see whats really wrong with the engine.
I have also come to find that I have a 1990 throttle body. For some reason they switched that out, so I need to find a '91-'94 throttle body. So far Ive gotten the replacement turbo and alternator in, just waiting on the FPR and a few miscellaneous hoses and lines to hook up. From there I will see if I need a new cylinder head, engine rebuild or new engine all together. Wish me luck! ;)
