This is my 1969 Volkswagen Beetle Tube Chassis Pro Street. It has been a project for about 3 years now off and on. All Chassis/Motor/Bodywork is done at my shop. This is the Only Volkswagen Beetle V8 that I have seen with stock width fenders on it and the car is tubbed. Everyone else puts the extra wide fenders on them and I dont like them. I always like to be different and this is definately that. My AOL Instant Messager name is: allstarollie31 give me a shout or Hit me up on Myspace if you wanna chat: My url is: www.myspace.com/wickedfastbowties

Engine:
355 CI Small Block Chevy (350 bored.030 over to make a 355)
671 BDS Supercharger/ Weiand Manifold Blower is driven 1 to 1
2 750 Holley Carburetors
Motor is making in the neighborhood of 550-600 Horsepower on pump gas. Yes I can Turn the Boost up More and Make more Power if I want to, but to be honest it doesnt take much HP to get a 2300 Pound VW Moving along. I Have a Injection Hat but not sure if I want to put it on yet. I love the Sound and performance of the Hat Fuel Injection but From what I hear its a Pain in the Ass to get it tuned right on the Street. I hear its Full Throttle or No Throttle and to be honest I plan on driving this car on the street a good bit so I dont want to compromise the streetability of the car. But Thats something I can think about over next winter. Well See what happens.

Transmission:
350 Turbo Tranny
Shift kit
Lots of upgrades internally
3,500 Stahl Converter

Car has a 12 Point cage with Funny Car conversion. All 2x3 Tube Chassis. 9" Ford Rear with S&W Racecars Suspension package which consist of double adjustable Ladder bars suspension and coil overs. Front end is out from under a Mustang II (same as Pinto), I had to narrow the front end about 8 inches, has tubular upper and lower A-arms with 2" drop spindles and disc brakes. The steering rack is a Mustang II Rack that I took aparty cut 8 inches out of the housing and cut 6 1/2 inches out of the center of the steering shaft and 3/4 inch off of each tie rod end to make it even. It bolted right back up to the stock holes and it works great.

Wheels and Tires:
Wheels are Cragar SS Forged Alloy Aluminum. Weld Racing made these wheels for Cragar for a couple months and then discontinued them. Its pretty Rare to see another set of them.
Fronts: 15x4 1/2 with Brand New Tires.
Rears: 15x14 with Brand New 29x18.50x15 Mickey Thompson Sportsman Pros.

I started to make my custom headers for the VW. I started with a 1 3/4 Header kit and a box of different mandrel bends. Basically it was just a bunch of pipes that I bought and knew that I had to cut and weld and cut and weld until I got them to work. They Turned out pretty good for my first set of custom headers from scratch. They are 1 3/4 primary tubes into 3" collectors and a set of 3" Bullet Mufflers and 3 " exhaust. Finally got the Motor Fired up and It sounds Awesome, Gonna try and have a video real soon. Keep an eye out for it.

Finally got the Body back on to the chassis. Got some of the itnerior done that I needed to get done before setting the body back on other wise I would not be able to get to it cause the cage would have been in the way. I put a New Grey New Style Headliner in the car and turned out sweet, I also painted the top and so far down on the inside a metallic gun metal grey/silver, it looks good. Got some roll bar padding on some of the important bars, still not done yet. I also cut out the old dash and put in a whole new flat dash just waiting on my gauges to cut the wholes out for them. No more Glove Box Woo Hoo. Also Shaved the Gas Filler Lid and Neck that use to be on the passenger side front which is now cut out, a new piece of metal welded in and smooted down and a skin of body filler on it to make it nice. I plan to have a video coming real soon of the car running so be sure to keep an eye out for it.

Got all the Firewall done and all the floor done in the VW. Its all welded up and was sealed with some polyurethane. Im putting down some Juke Mat right now which is a material that goes down before the carpet that helps keep the heat down and deadens the sound alot. Then im gonna lay the carpet and finish hooking everything up and installing some odds and ends, not a whole lot more work to do just a couple little things. Hope to be cruizing the streets in a bout a month or so.
