This is my 1969 VW Baja. I bought it July 16, 2005 when I was 15. It started out as my daily driver. I am now 20 and a full time college student and drive it several times a week. I have done a lot of work to it over the years. I have invested thousands with no end in sight. I have learned a lot about working on cars from her. Before judging, take into consideration that so far it has been built on a student's budget.

^^ How it will be ^^

Dec 13, 2008: FINALLY got the new wheels and tires on. I gained an inch of ground clearance.

^^Dec 8, 2009: Wheels (Unique 297 15x7) and adapters (4 lug to 5-4.75) are in! ^^
Tires I ordered ended up being on national backorder so I changed them to Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac 235/75/15. Should be here December 10.

December 6, 2009: Just ordered 2 wheels (15x7) and 2 tires (Dunlop Mud Rover 235/75/15). Should have on the car by Tuesday! Rear tires/wheels on car now are going up front.

ENGINE
The engine is out of a 71' VW. It's a dual port 1600cc. It was rebuilt around 2005. Not much done to it performance wise yet because I'm trying to keep it as reliable as possible right now. Performance mods include 2 barrel Weber carburetor, and exhaust. Repair wise, I have put two heads on it (the same one for the same reason), replaced the generator, distributor, plug wires, ignition coil, cooling fan, and a few other things.
December 1, 2009: Got new adjusting screws and nuts for rocker arm. Finished adjusting valves. Also "modified" the ignition coil.

November 25, 2009: Went to adjust the valves and found that the adjusting screw and nut on the rocker arm for exhaust valve on cylinder number 4 were not where they should be! Nut was found in valve cover and screw was found in pushrod tube for cylinder number 3. Both were stripped. Ordered a new set. (look below)

November 2009: There was a rattling noise coming from the fan area on the engine. Took upper engine apart to see what the problem was. Also cleaned and painted or polished the parts I had off.
Well, I found the problem!----->

Engine was very dirty! Cleaned it up and painted it.

Got a few new parts: Cylinder shrounds, fan, chrome generator clamp, generator, screws, and gaskets--->

Back together.... Looks a lot better than before. New exhaust coming December 25, 2009!
September 2008: New 2 barrel Weber carburetor and intake manifold!
