1972 Chevelle SS

The Car:
This is my 1972 Chevelle SS (clone) with original 72,000 miles, I am 34 yrs old and this car has been my dream car for as long as i can remember. I finally decided to just buy one

This car was bought in Georgia back in 1990 by it's previous owner, and he and his son slowly restored it over the next 11 years. The car had very little rust, front floors were replaced, but otherwise it has the original trunk pans, quarters, doors, and fenders, everything was sandblasted, primed and painted with single stage victory red with the black racing stripes. The car was originally a air conditioning car, but everything was removed off the firewall for a cleaner look.(i hope to restore the air)

In 2001, the car was finished and was then driven very little over the next 6 years, less than 8,000 miles total. In August of 2008 I bought the car for $8500, They had over 16,000 in it's build, but needed to sell it for a Jeep project the were building.

After I had purchased it I bought a set of crager s/s wheels for it and a Pioneer stereo.

Interior:
The interior is very nice, everything is black, rear seat is original, but both front seats were recovered, it has new carpet, headliner, dash, and other interior trim peices. All door handles, window cranks, steering wheel have all been replaced with billet aluminum accesories, also has a full set of autometer gauges and a monster tach.

Engine:
GM Performance Parts Crate engine from summit racing: 350 HO V8 approximately 9.1:1 compression, 330 hp at 5,000 rpm and 380 ft./lbs. of torque at 3,800 rpm. These 4-bolt main engines have a recommended max rpm of 5,500. Dressed to impress with chrome valve covers and front timing cover these engines will look great between the fenders. Parts used in this engine assemblies are 4-bolt main 1-piece rear main seal blocks, nodular cast iron crankshafts, powdered metal connecting rods, Dished cast aluminum pistons. Installed camshafts are hydraulic flat tappet with .435 in. intake lift and .460 in exhaust lift with duration at .050 in. for intake is 212 and 222 for exhaust with a 112.5 lobe centerline. Standard Morse link timing chains are installed. Cylinder heads are Vortec cast iron style with 64cc chambers; 170cc intake runners with 1.94 in. intake valves and 1.50 in. exhaust valves. Stamped steel self-aligning rocker arms are used for reliability. Aluminum dual plane with EGR capability Vortec style intake manifold with a Holley 600 cfm vacuum secondary with electric choke help feed the engines. Spark plugs, HEI distributors are included. Cast iron long style water pumps with standard "V" belt rotation threaded for 1979-89 power steering pump brackets. Standard 8 in. balancer and 12 3/4 in. flexplates, along with chrome air cleaner, and standard cast aluminum thermostat housings with driver side hose connection and a 180 degree thermostat.

Transmisson:
TH350 B&M Street/strip transmission is suitable for use behind engines producing up to 450 ft.-lbs. of torque, which covers my small blocks. This remanufactured transmission is put together with new gaskets, bushings, seals, thrust washers, high performance friction materials, and gold zinc-plated hardware. The front pump is rebuilt to B&M specs, and the valve body is recalibrated to specific applications. Also included with these transmissions are a new overdrag sprag assembly, a high performance reaction carrier assembly, and an external electric connector. Also added was a B&M Shifter and a B&M shift Kit making the trans, really grab second gear

Rear end and Gears: The car runs a gm 10 bolt, with richmond gear 3.73 ring and pinion gear set

Exhaust: The motor breathes through true dual exhaust with mild turbo mufflers

Wheels and tires: car runs Crager SS wheels 15x8 in the rear and 15x7 in the front, along with BF goodrich Radial T/A's all the way around.

Sound system: Pioneer Cd player with IPOD interface and 4" pioneers in the doors, and 6x9's in the rear deck

Future Mods:
4 wheel disc brake kit with drilled and slotted rotors
18" chrome Torque thrust wheels to replace the cragers
Flowmaster mufflers replace the turbos
Replace all heater and a/c stuff under the hood that was removed
Tint windows
upgrade stereo
