This is another of my projects, Its a 1953 Chevrolet 1500. I bought it from a guy in New Hartford, Iowa for $1,500.00. It has a Monte Carlo sub frame, a 327 small block and a automatic transmission. So far I have gotten a few things done to it. When I got it the bucket seats, exhaust, engine and frame, and bed were already installed.

Well the first thing I did was get rid of the stock valve covers and got some chrome edelbrocks and chrome edlebrock signiture series air cleaner installed. Then I painted the intake manifold grey, painted the block orange and worked on smoothing the firewall. After that I got the heater core replaced and painted it black. After I got these done I moved on to the power steering pump, the origonal was gone so I got another one out of a junked car and some brackets from another guy, had to drill and tap one of the holes but after that it went well. I bought some SS Monte Carlo rims from a guy in Fairbank, Iowa for $80, They were much better then the white blade rims that came on it. Now the truck needs another exhaust now because the old one is rusting out and I don't like the exhaust exiting in front of the rear wheels on it anyway. I built a custom center counsel out of some veneer plywood and some angle Iron. After that I cut out a gauge panel out of some steel and brought out some gauges for it, I mounted the Hurst V-Matic Shifter on it and took it to a repair shop because the trans was messed up and you couldn't start it at all with out it jumping in gear. after I got it back I did some fine tuning of the shift linkage and got the shifter aligned right. The truck overheated while driving on a road near my house so we had to take apart the thermostat housing and found out that the old one wasn't even working, got that replaced and the truck went outside again. Got a radio for it and might be puting it in soon.

The truck also has a new tailgate that I got primed and installed but haven't had it painted yet, my son is taking collision repair so I'll have him paint it. I still need to get the gauges installed and hook up the ones in the counsel, I also need to get seat belts and the wiring working again.
