Well, I have started a project that I have been meaning to get to but have not had the time but something happened and I decided to start on the project.
The project is that I am building a new fuse panel inside of my center console. I have added some fog light and a few other accessories to my car that require a fuse in them and I got tired of getting under the dash to check a fuse if something quit working and also having everything tapped into the main power wire for the car probably isn't the best thing for the car either.
The first thing that I started with was taking out the center console, radio pod and also the panel underneith the dash to expose all of the wiring. In the pics you can see some of the wiring mess that I already have from the car starter and also the alarm.
After I got those out, I removed all of the wires for my fog lights and also my scanner light as well. I got from Wal-Mart and amp kit with some 4 gauge power wire to run back to my console for the power wire for everything. Here are the pics of the wire and how I ran it back to the console. Here is the wire hooked up to the battery first with the fuse holder attached.
Here is the pic after I got it back to where the console is suppose to be at. I can the power wire under the carpet as much as i could.
I got the console back in but not bolted down so then I can run the power wire into the console.
I use the dremel that my girlfriend got me for my birthday a few days before doing this to make the holes needed to run the power wire in and the accessory wires out. Here is the pic of the power wire in the console.
Next I put in the distribution block for the accessory wires and ran them out of the console to were the switches are. First pic is of inside the console
This is the pic of the first connections for the switches.
Now I have most of the new wires ran for the fog lights and also the scanner light. I made most of the connections for the fuses but I have not hooked up the power wire to the fuse block yet. I am waiting until last to do this.
Here is the pic of the connections with the fuses hooked up
And here is the pic of the connections for the switches paired up together.
I got all of the connections made and everything works just fine without blowing any fuses. Here is the pic of all the wires in the center console all hooked up. Getting a little crowded in there and I am not even done yet.
This is all that I have done so far. Waiting for my LED's to come in and also need to get some plastic, either abs plastic or painted plexiglass not real sure yet. I will post more pics when I get more done.
I finally got the LED's and got around to putting a few inside my car. I got a new dash gauge suround piece and the left side had a place for some factory switches but I decided to put something else there instead.
I mounted 4 LED's in this piece. One for each switch in the order that the switches are in. The first switch turns on the first LED and so on through all 4 switches.
Here are the night pics with the LED's turning on.
In this next pic it shows all 4 LED's on and you can also see the lights on the scanner controler running since the last switch runs the scanner.
This is all I have so far. They work great and it keeps me from leaving anything on when I shut the car off.
I have started working again on my center console. I built a lower console to house my switches and then I rebuilt my center console to house my PS2. The center console still needs some work until it can go in but the lower console is in. Here are the pics of them being built.
Well this is as far as I have gotten with the center console. Hope to have it completely finished by spring.
