When i finally got the nose and scanner for my car, I decided to take a week off just so I knew I had enough time to get it done.
First thing I had to do was get the front end up off the ground so I could work.
After I got it up in the air, the first thing that had to come down was the air dam. You can see in the pic that it is just hanging under the car.
After I was able to get the the front nose bolts, i was able to remove them from both sides and the top and I removed the nose revealing the honeycomb that covers the impact bar.
Here is the nose removed from the car.
It took a couple of hours to get the holes to line up but i finally got them lined up to where i thought the nose actually look pretty good on the car. As you can see from the pics, the hood needs some work done on it to get rid of the surface rust that has formed on it. Here is a close up of the scanner opening without the scanner.
You can really tell the diference between the factory nose and the KITT nose. As you can see from the pics, the honeycomb had to be removed to make room for the fog lights.
There wasn't really much for mounting the scanner. I just had to make sure that it sat right up next to the nose and marked where the mounting holes needed to be drilled. I had it mounted fairly quickly and quit for the day.
The following day i started mounting the fog lights. I used three sets of fog lights. Two sets for running lights and one for turn signals because the nose covers up the factory turn signals. I got the first set mounted then i got the second set mounted.
I got them wired up so i decided to see what they looked like for the first time. I also turned on the scanner as well. You can see it in the daytime it is so bright. Wait until you see what i used for the switches for everything.
After i got them mounted and working i decided to tril fit the nose to see what it looked like when i have the nose on.
I noticed that once I had the nose on, the fog lights had to be moved towards the fenders a bit for them to look right. I did this and mounted the last set for the turn signals and finally mounted the nose for the last time. It doesn't really match right up to the fenders exactly but it works for now.
Here are a few pics of it finished, for now, with the scanner off.
Here are a few with the scanner running. You can see the hood still needs work. The roof is the same way.
I also decided to take some night pics. Sorry about the quality. It is hard to get a clear shot with a digital camera at night.
Here are the switches that I used for the the scanner and fog lights. I thought they would go great with KITT. I got them from Summit
Here is how KITT looks now. I did a little work on the hood and roof. It looks better than what it did before.
I will update this again once I get some more done on the conversion.
