I finally decided to start on the audio system for my car. I was thinking about getting my other car running and keeping the audio equipment in there but I think it is too far gone to get it going again. So, I started pulling some of the equipment out and I am going to use it in this car. Here is the radio that I am going to be using until I can get either a pioneer dvd player or a panasonic dvd player for the car.

Here is a set of 8" mtx 6000 subs that I am going to use for mid-bass. Maybe build some kick panels for them.

I also have a set of polk audio tweeters to install somewhere but not really sure where yet.

My sound processor for now is my pioneer deq-9200. I had it mounted in my rear view mirror in my old car but I don't think I am going to do that for this one.

The amps that I have to use are a mtx 5400x and 2 mtx blue thunder pro500xd's.

I will be running either one or both of the pro500xd's on 2 mtx 15" 6000. I am pulling 2 of them from the 9 that I have in my other car.

The one last piece that I have right now to put in is my pioneer avd-w8000 8" lcd screen.

I am stil trying to decide where to put it.
I was thnking of putting it down where to radio is. Custom making a pod for it so I can still use the heater controls but I would have to move the radio somewhere else.

Custom making a pod next to the gauges.

Or either making a pod to mount to the roof or using the rod from another rear view mirror and fabricating a bracket to I can move it around to get a better viewing angle for it.
This is what I have for my audio equipment. I have another part coming for my car soon but I am going to wait until it gets here to share it when anyone who wants to take a look at it.
I finally got around to start building my speaker pods for the back.
The first thing I did was to fiberglass the rear sail panels to strenghten them up so they can hold the speakers that I am planning on putting on them.
Here are the sail panels after fiberglassing. They still need a little more. I want them to keep their original shape so I need to strengthen them up so they don't felx at all.

Here are the speaker baffels for the 8" subs that will be mounted to the sail panels. I still need to do some sanding on them to get them smooth but they are coming along nicely.

Here is how I plan to mount the baffels to the sail panels.

Here are a few pics of the subs in the baffels and how they look inside the car.

Here is a pic from the side so you can see that they will fit in there fairly nice. They will look better once I get the other baffels made and everything fiberglassed to the sail panel. I am planning on painting them gloss black once I am done.

More to come soon.
Well, it has finally warmed up enough to start working again on my audio system. It keeps raining so it is going slow at the moment but going slow is better than not at all.
I got the speaker rings for the 8" subs mounted to the fiberglassed sail panels. I think they look really good right now. I am going to have the 8" subs firing at the back of each seat and the other speakers that will be above the 8"s with be firing more towards the center of the front of the car. I hope that this works and sounds awesome when they are done.
Here are some pics of what I have just finished.

I haven't decided if I am going to go with 5.25" component set or a 6.5 component set. Both sets have the tweeter installed in the middle of the speaker which will help with installing them in the sail panels. I will have more pics as this project progresses.
I have finally got around to doing some more work with the audio system and here is what I have done.
Here are the speaker rings mounted to the sail panels.

Here is one of them after I have the fabric stretched over the sail panel.

Here I have glassed the sail panel and cut open the opening for the 8 inch sub. I had to do this because the fabric would hit the back of the speaker magnet so I glassed the front and cut the 8 inch hole open and mounted the sub with tin foil on the back then glassed the rest of it so it would take the contour of the back of the sub. It just barely hit the fabric but if I wouldn't have done this, the sub would not be able to fit in that location. Here are the pics.

Here are the pods with the speakers sitting in them so you get an idea of what they look like.

HEre are a few different angles of the one speaker pod mounted in the car.

Here are the pods as they sit right now. All of the speakers are mounted in their locations but I still need to cut out the holes for the tweeters so they are flush mounted instead of surfaced mounted.

Now here is the latest addition to my audio system. I finally got my dvd player that I have been wanting and got it installed along with the 8 inch pioneer tv I have had for quite a while. Here are the pics of them installed and playing one of my favorite dvd's.

This is how I mounted the tv to the dash. I used an L bracket mounted to the under part of the dash trim so I can take the tv out with me when I leave the car so I don't have to worry about someone trying to steal it from me.

That is it for now. I will update more when I have more to update.
I have a few new components added to my car. I put in 2 cameras, an udio video switcher, PS2 and KITT's voice box. Here is how I mounted the cameras.

Here is the one that I mounted in the back.

HEre is the audio video switcher and PS2

Here is KITT's voice box

THis is all I have for this right now. I hope to have a pic of it installed soon.
