Well, I finally got some new items to put on my car. I got off of ebay 2-24 inch blue neons to put in the grill area about my fog lights. I figured 24 inch bulbs would cover the length of where the bulbs were and to give it enough light on them to give it an nice glow to it. Well, when I got the bulbs I did not like the looks of the colored ends on them. They are a clear blueish green color and I decided that it had to go. It would not look very good that way. Here is a pic of one of the bulbs and you can see what the ends look like
Here is the entire bulb.

Here is a closer look at one side.

And the other side.

So what I started off doing was taping of around the edge of the bulb so I wouldn't get any paint on it. I like using the blue painters tape because it comes off a lot easier and it doesn't, at least so far, leave any sticky residue. You can see the tape on the bulb in this picture.

Next what I decided to do was to get a couple of Wal-Mart sacks I had lying around and to slip them over the ends and put holes in the ends to feed the bulb through. After I got the bulb through, I taped around the hole to the tape that was already on the bulb to seal it off so no paint overspray could get on the bulb. I did this on both ends because the bulbs were to big for just one bag. You can also see that I taped up the wires as well so I wouldn't paint them as well.

Next thing I did was get out my black spray primer and I primered the ends so that I could paint them. I could have painted them without the primer but I wanted to do it this way.

And the other side.

After I let them dry for a while I got my gloss black spray paint and painted the ends. I could have sanded them down so they would be nice and smooth but I was just wanting to change the color of the ends is all.
Here is them painted.

And also the other side.

After I let them dry as well for a while I took the bags and the tape off and I think they look much better now.
They went from looking like this

To this

I did this in the morning so I had to wait a while before I could temporarily put one in my car to see what it looks like. It finally got dark and I took on bulb out and hooked it straight up to the battery and had it sitting about where it was going to be. I shut the hood and I stepped back and I think it looks cool in there. Here are a few pics of just the one bulb sitting in there.

Here is one a little closer to the fog lights

Here area few more with the red scanner going.

Now I decided to turn the fog lights on. When I turned both sets on, you really couldn't see the blue glow that much. But when I just had one set on you could still see it.

I haven't got any pics taken yet with the blue scanner lens but I think those will look awesome with the blue lights. I will post more when I finally get the chance to put the lights on to stay. The pics don't really do it much justice. They look a lot better in person when they are turned on.
Well, I finally got around to insalling my neons. The first thing I had to do was take the nose back off again so I could have access to the inpact bar where the neons would be mounted to.

I was going to use L-brackets to mount them but when I was at Wal-Mart to buy them, they didn't carry them anymore. I didn't want to go to Lowe's and find them so I found something that would work. Some brackets to mount a mail box with. They had a small lip at the bottom with a hole to mount with and several other holse towards the end to mount with as well. All I had to do was bend them the way I wanted and they worked perfectly. Here is the first one mounted above the foglights.

Here is the front with both mounted and some of the wiring done.

They fit in there real nice but I had to slip the nose back on to be sure they weren't in the way and the nose fits just like it did before. It is a little harder now getting to the mounting bolts for the nose with the neons on but I got the nose back on. When looking at the nose you can't see the neon tubes at all and that was what I was going for.

Here are a few pics from behind the nose and you can hardly see the tubes when they are off.

But when you turn them on you can see them from the top.

Here is a pic with the neons on from the front. You can see the blue glow but not much. I will have some night pics as soon as it gets dark.

I think they turned out really nice.
Well, night has fallen and now it is time for the good pictures. The first ones are of just the neons turned on. They give it the effect that I was hoping for.

Here is one from a side angle.

Now here they are witht he scanner going. I will get ones with the blue scanner later.

Now the last ones are with the neons, scanner and foglights. I really like the looks of this.

Hope you liked looking at these pics and know I do.
Well, here are the pics with the blue scanner lens. I think the car looks cool with either the blue or the red lens. The red lens gives more of a contrast to the blue but the blue looks awesome with the neons as well.

Here is a couple side view shots.

And a few shots with the fog lights on.

I think the car is getting better with everything that I do to it.
