2001 Dakota Quad Cab SLT 2wd
1. 5.9 V-8
2. 46 RE Automatic
3. 9.25 Limited Slip Diff with 3.55 gears
History:
I bought the Dakota Feb 2006 from a friend who bought it from the Chrysler Credit Repo Sale. The Dakota had 69,000 hard miles and was beaten and battered. I had to replace both front fenders and removed several softball size dents and probably 75 to 100 dings and hail dents. I bought it thinking it was a V-6 because it had no fender emblems. (I didn't drive it before I bought it.) I found out later that 2001 was the first year that Chrysler left off the emblems. My wife had a 2000 Durango 5.2, V-8 2wd that I fell in love with. It drove great, had very good power, and was very roomy inside. (I was a big Chevy fan!) Once I raised the hood on the Dakota and saw the 5.9 I fell in love!!!
I originally bought the Dakota as a family hauler, of course it still hauls the family, but I have a large smile on my face! (Who cares about the 13-15 mpg when you're having this much fun!)
I spent about 6 months of evenings pulling dents and smoothing body panels then a good friend sprayed the color.
