Work Completed
- I brought my car to Noyzboyz Performance in Scarborough to get a quote for replacing the two mufflers with Flowmaster 40s. The estimate given to me was $300 plus tax and that was out of my price range. They told me that they had some Borla Turbo's in stock though which would cost me $260 plus tax and that was a bit more to my liking. I have to say, I really like how these mufflers sound. They are quiet at idle and even while cruising but when you step into the gas it really roars.

- I took my car to Tint King in Scarborough because I have always been a fan of tinted windows and I thought they would complete the look. Tint King also offers a lifetime warranty so it is a safe bet. I opted to get a middle of the road tint, 35%, not too dark and not too light either. I also took the trunk rack off, put bondo over the holes and repainted the trunk lid. I think it looks much better without it, a lot less cluttered.

- The front drivers side marker light cover was broken because the previous owner had hit something so I went to Standard Auto Wreckers in Markham and grabbed one of a black 94 Cutlass Supreme. After a few minutes of wrestling with it, I got the marker light cover off and installed it in my car.

- A piece of trim behind the rear drivers side door had flown off on the 401 while I was driving to Sarnia. One of the two screws holding it in had fallen out and the pressure of driving at 120kmh+ for over two hours put a lot of stress on it and broke it in half. I took the half that was still screwed to the car off and got a replacement at Standard Auto Wreckers in Markham from the same black 94 Cutlass Supreme.

- The paint on a piece of trim by passenger rear door was cracking and flaking so half of it was black and the alunimum was showing on the other half. I sanded off whatever paint was left until it was smooth and spray painted it OEM flat black, so I no longer have to deal with the trim looking worn out on my otherwise clean car.

- The previous owners of the car obviously liked the center console arm rest so much that they had worn it out down to the point where sponge was coming out the torn leather. I got a thin piece of plain brown leather from a local store and cut it to shape, then put it on top of the worn out areas and glued it with contact cement. I then painted the leather black to match the rest of the center console, looks like new now.

- The rear speaker covers had sun burnt over the years and had turned a light greyish pink(don`t ask me how). The rest of the interior is black and the light pink speaker covers stuck out so I pried them off with a screwdriver and painted them flat black. I put them back on and they look great now and match the rest of the interior.

- My driver side corner turn signal lamp was dead so I went to Part Source and picked up a pair of GE bulbs for $3.29 and changed them in a couple minutes. The old ones in the car were actually the wrong type but they fit, now both are the correct factory style bulb.

- The adhesive that GM used on the interior of my car was horrible and a lot of the fabric started to peel off the different parts of my interior. So with a tube of fabric contact cement in hand I tackled the interior one weekend and glued the fabric on the door panels below the handle and the fabric below the steering wheel.

- I went to Hogan Chevrolet in Scarborough to get a pair of spare keys cut for my car because when I bought it the owner had lost the spares. Not to mention my ignition key was badly bent so it's days are numbered. I got two new keys cut for $14 and am retiring the old ones to spare key status. They still work fine but they're pretty worn and aren't really good for regular use anymore.

- I went to Canadian Tire in Scarborough today to pick up a pair of Sylvania Silverstar Ultra headlights for $54.99. The original headlights were two mismatched Sylvania's that looked different when the car was on and it really irritated me so I replaced them. These one's are a lot brighter and a more white light so I think they look better.

- The paint on a piece of trim beside the windshield had cracked so the whole piece was bare metal opposed to it's original colour, flat black. Since the rest of the windshield frame was flat black I painted that piece so it would match and it looks a lot better now.

- Before I had a plain standard issue Delco filter and it had been in there for a while. It was starting to look medium gray instead of white so I went to Part Source in Scarborough and got a K&N filter. I noticed the car was a bit more perky after installing it and who can complain about an air filter that lasts a million miles.

That is it as far as my improvements have gone. I have a few more projects that I plan on doing in the near future, which I'll report on.
