Interior: Out With Old, In With The New
The interior, though in pretty good condition, had to go. I wasn't very fond of the color, in fact I hated it. So, I tore it all out and I'm in the process of swapping in a gray interior with a few modifications. The front seats were the enthusiast seats and they are pretty well bolstered. However, the seats have lost their support, at least the driver seat has. Unfortunately it is hard to find these seats for sale. I have decided to replace them with a pair of seats out of an SRT-4. They will be reupholstered with gray outsides with black inserts. I am going to have the back seats reupholstered to match the front seats. I have already bought new gray carpet & floor mats. I also have the entire dash, steering column, center console, door panels, parcel shelf, SRT-4 and rear seats. I am in the process of getting all the interior trim so if you have any gray J-body LeBaron trim for sale, let me know. They will be black and the front ones will have GTC embroidered in red. The stock rubber shifter boot is going to have to go as well. I am going to make a new one out of black leather and red stitching. I've also had the center console lid covered in matching leather. The top half of the car is going to be wrapped in black suede.
Audio: Sounds Good To Me
So far all I've had time to do is make the harness. Since I have it on jacks right now, I might take some time and run the wires and mount the crossovers. I have everything read to go once the interior is in. I have installed a similar system in my Stealth and it sounds great.
Head Unit: Clarion DXZ785USB
Mids (5 1/4")/Tweets (1"): Focal 130V1 Components
Rears (6" x 9"): Kenwood KFC6990ic
Amp: Rockford Fosgate P200-2
I hadn't intended to get an amp but I needed one for the components. The antenna was removed and the mast was shaved from the fender. I don't think I will relocate a stationary antenna to the rear like I have on my Stealth. I think it would break up the lines. I like it the way it is. I might just leave it without an antenna as I don't even really listen to the radio anyhow. I'll have to make my own wiring as I want to run new speaker wire to all the speakers. I'll also be installing something for sound absorption, but not much as I don't want to add much weight.
Gauges: Time For Some Accuracy
For the gauges I have picked out only the ones that I need. No need to go overboard and get cluttered. I have decided to go with the Air/Fuel ratio gauge that comes with the AEM Uego wideband O2 sensor system. The rest of the gauges are from the Autometer Cobalt Series. First is a mechanical 30/30 Boost/Vacuum (which I've already bought), EGT, electronic oil pressure, electronic tach, electronic speedometer, and last is an electronic water temp and volt meter. I might even go with a new fuel level if it's easy to get in the cluster I am going to mount the boost, EGT, and A/F gauges in a custom pod that fits right where the message center used to be. I am then going to try and mount everything else in the cluster.
