This is my BMW e30. The list of mods is huge so there are a lot of pictures. Most of the work is custom fabricated. I'm planning to ease her up to 30psi this month.

**Aug 7/09** I'm running 26psi now at the track with race fuel. AFR is really rich at 10:1 in this part of the map, so more tuning is needed. The best I managed on my 215/35/19 street tires was:

60   ...  2.144
330 ...  5.497
1/8  ... 8.195
MPH ... 93.58
1000 ... 10.431
1/4  ... 12.366

MPH ... 117.21

Should definately be in the 11st at least with slicks. I ordered a set of Toyo Proxes 888 DOT road racing slicks. They are not a drag slick but should offer a large inprovement.

**July 30/09**

Just got back from dyno tuning on pump gas. I did not get a chance to tune the methanol injection properly as we melted through an injection line... I did however tune the nitrous. We ended up bumping her up to a 75shot, which via window switch engages at 2500rpms, and de-activates at 17psi. Boost is sitting at 22.15psi. We made 432.11ft/lbs of torque @ 3500rpms!! - Withous the NOS we had only 250ft/lbs at the same point... it seems like a big jump but keep in mind the NOS is building boost as well. Full boost is reached at 4,000rpms. The nitrous has greatly enhanced the power curve. The ZEX control unit also does not activate the system until 2nd gear. This should help with traction issues.

First, let's start with the dyno sheet... we'll work backwards through the mods. (now running 7more PSI and NOS, need to update this section)

It made good power. Most m20 engines don't keep making power up top... but mine does. This is due to the short runner intake, big cam, 80mm tbody, +1mm larger valves, and heavy porting w/ the flowbench. The 4" exhaust from the turbo back doesn't hurt either.

I made 443.47hp and 429.53lb ft of torque at 21psi, at the rear wheels. That's about 505hp at the flywheel. I'll be going back to the dyno for further tuning and to up the boost to about 25psi. We're hoping to get 500whp out of this combination with more tuning... we didn't touch the ignition side of the map yet... it's pretty conservative.

Belive it or not this car has a one of a kind body kit. Nobody else in the world has this kit but me. Cost? Huge... it was a business venture that didn't pan out, so I have the pre-production model. Designed it myself.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

The wheels are 19". You can see that the body kit is pretty low.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

Brakes are from a Corvette z06, both front and rear. They stop in a hurry... 13.2" in the front. I still need to install a larger master cyl because the pistons in these calipers are huge.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

You can see in this moch up shot where the intercooler is. Also note the carbon fiber 3.5" cold air intake. Custom fabbed... I bought an intake for an e46 m3, cut it in half, and there you go. Works great and doesn't get heat soaked like everything else.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

I'm running a 4" exhaust from the turbo back. Yeah... it's freaking huge. If I didn't have the 19s I wouldn't be able to drive it. Since this picture I installed a hooker muffler in the back. Sounds pretty mean.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

You can see that the exhaust hangs lower than the side skirts. I avoid speed bumps but it isn't that bad... the lowest part is under the front wheels, so if I hit it straight on I'm fine.

Here is the car with the motor out. Originally is was a 2.5L... we used the stock bottom end from a 1988 325e to make a 2.7l stroker with 8.3:1 compression.

I know the turbo sits high in this picture, but the motor actually sits in the engine at a slant. The bottom of the oil pan sits flat in the car.

Transition to 4". Basically no clearance to the top wastegate (there are two).

Equal length tubular manifold.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

Twin wastegates. This manifold is devided inside, and so is the turbo. Each 3cyl drives the turbo independantly for a faster spool.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

.84 a/r t3 exhaust housing. This turbo is an xspower brand... cheap but it works really well. Similar wheel to a gt35.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

My favorite part... the intake manifold. It's custom fabricated. 80mm mustang tbody, short runners, and velocity stacks inside. I ended up removing the paint and sand blasting it for a cast look.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

Here you can see the velocity stacks. Pain in the rear to get in there.

I'm running 85lb Injectors

6 puck unsprung iron disk. It grabs like you wouldn't believe. Hard to drive but it holds the power... and it was very inexpensive. Got the kit from clutchnet.net with the pressure plate.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

Had to beef up the diff mount. We also re-enforced the subframe mounting points. I tore the diff out banging gears, so this is what we came up with. Works great.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

To correctly align the rear trailing arms we installed adjustment tabs. The bolts are eccentric. The inside mount was raised by about 1/2" before adding the tab. This allowed me to get rid of the negative camber in the rear in favor of more traction.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

The short springs in the rear have a tendancy to fall out when you put the car on the hoist. This would never happen on the road or even track, but we put in chains to limit suspension droop so that this doesn't happen. Works great.

pld0vr's 1987 BMW 3-Series

Well, that's oit for now. Hope you liked it. We have plans for more boost and more tuning. This combination should be good for 500whp.

Dude this is one of my favorite bimmers on the site. Im glad to see someone actually cares about the go before the show. I plan on going turbo eventually once my drivetrain is up'd enough to hold 400+ to the wheels. Nice car!
