My car, my club - my passion!
UPDATE FEBRUARY 2008 - well folks, Bill has managed to get the motor out with good news, I think - it's NEVER been touched! He's the first. I've only got these two pics so far, i'll post as I get more.
Went back up on Wed., the 20th got to see the heads all cleaned up and looking great. Got new cylinders, a little 'taller' for about 60 extra hp. Did find that the timing belt had busted and been changed. The fibers from the belt were piled in the oil pan filter about 1/2 cup worth of bits and pieces. Thank god for the filter! The rods were bent, a problem that wouldn't have lasted much longer. On the motor, we found markings where the guys in Calif. during a random quality control check marker the motor with 'day shift'. thought this was kinda neat - yup got a pic! The intake was powder coated with a rust colr - burnin that off going with the Chrysler turquoise. Since we added a carb with an electronic choke, we'll be better off keeping our paint color on the intake instead of it getting all black because the heat won't be as bad coming off intake with the extra vented plate going on. Overall, it's gonna be a good fix, so far things are looking really good. Got a lot of worn stuff, nothing more than you'd expect to see on a 36 y.o. car tho'. Still have a list of stuff to get, but it's coming along good. Really happy to be seeing it coming along. Getting excited to be testing it out and tweaking and tuning! I'll write more when I have more - thanks for stopping by ~(:

i>Our 2007 project. Got this in June of this year. Really happy with the deal we got. I've seen a lot worse for a lot more. So, with the $$ we saved on the initial purchase, we're investing that in re-doing, restoring our baby to what it was and better.
We've so far replaced the muffler system including the headers, had them set back to factory specs - flowmaster w/ cherry bombs/ updated the plugs while we were in there, had a new starter put on/ upgraded the carburator to a Ed. Performer 750/ Our next to-do item is a must - the brake system and suspension. The hoses are basically 'brittle', so i'm always thankful when I am able to stop at the end of a hill! (;
1/08 - Well - it's outa my hands for a few months - getting the motor redone, transmission, suspension, brakes, - anything that has to do w/ it 'running right'! Excited but miss it! Hate not having 'my hands' in it. But - I guess by handing over the $$ - that includes me overall - right?? (;
As we bought it - a little rough around the edges
Still, I think it looks mean as hell!
This is the way we got it. Give us a couple years or so to revamp. Against my husband's preferrance I wanna see some matching Mopar Performance black wrinkle air and covers over the motor. He's wanting to see chrome everywhere - I'm just not into being 'flashy'. I tell him he can do that to his 71' Cuda when he gets it! Not wanting to see the red and blue connectors, happy with the black and 'pewter' look! Have a long way to go, and loving every minute of it!
The guy who owned it before started fixing it up, so what's been replaced in the interior is fairly new, but has more wear than what I'd like to see. So after all the other motor, brake, suspension and body work, then we'll revisit the interior. The original color is obviously gold [lots of evidence]- sad job on the dash paint, didn't prime. So each day it's a little more gold. The dash cap, where the sun'll hit has a tear in it and just needs to be replaced rather than fixed. Got my hands on a new Dash Pad - so once we get under cover from the sun - then we'll install that. The armrest on the driver's side also is torn, should be an easy fix there, since this years door panels are in 2 pieces and the arm rest should just slide back in. Easy is good. [Went to Oklahoma and brought home another 71 sebring, same thing just a 318 in it. Has lots of great swap parts!]
But overall - it's doable, won't be the best or baddest and it won't be the worst - I just want to drive it and have it sound and look good, but it'll be reliable. Probably won't win many awards, but I am in it to please myself. I am posting this to share what I've found and what I'm doin' to bring it back to life. Any advice or info you guys wanna share would be greatly appreciated. I've been checkin' out everyone elses posts and thanks for your insight already! Thanks for lookin' and "mopar to ya"!!
