Nick's 1985 Lincoln Continental

ND4SPDLSC's 1985 Lincoln Continental This is a picture of my Lincoln Continental. It has a 5.0L V8. The car has about 108k miles on it and I guess you can say I'm driving a rolling restoration project. My target is to make the car into the LSS (Luxury Sports Sedan) design proposal Lincoln never made. The idea surfaced due to the creation of the Mark VII LSC (Luxury Sports Coupe) and the shared platform and parts between the two cars.

ND4SPDLSC's 1985 Lincoln Continental I left the body mostly stock. I am trying to achieve a "factory-equipped" look. The center caps are from the 1984-1986 Lincoln Mark VII LSC. I upgraded the headrest to the larger ones used in 1986-87 Continentals and 1986-'89 LSCs for much better whiplash protection.

ND4SPDLSC's 1985 Lincoln Continental After breaking 3 sets of large, but extremely wonderful Hella XL Auxiliary Low Beam Lights, I installed a set of smaller IPF fog lights to improve vision at night and during foul weather. They are mounted like the Mark VII LSC's Marchal fog lights in the same factory holes.

ND4SPDLSC's 1985 Lincoln Continental I bought a set of Hella light covers to protect the lenses when the lights are not in use. I have yet to get pictures of the new lights one the car.

The stock 70 amp alternator has been replaced with a 100 amp unit to compensate for the stereo and auxiliary lights. The radiator has also been upgraded to a 3 row from the stock 2 row for additional cooling capacity and the battery has been upgraded to an Optima Red Top for more cranking power and to better meet the power needs of the upgraded electronics. I will be adding a dual snorkel air filter housing from a 1985 LSC for slightly better flow.

Modifications from Factory Spec:

-IPF Fog Lights
-3 Row Radiator
-K & N Air Filter
-Mobil 1 Oil
-Mobil 1 Oil Filter
-Alpine CD Receiver
-Kicker KX200.2 Amp
-2 Ten Inch Pioneer TSW-28 Subwoofers
-Q-Logic Box
-5.0 HO Stainless Steel Tubular Exhaust Headers
-1985-92 Mark VII LSC tail pipes and mufflers
-2.5" Mandrel Bent H Pipe with High Flow Catylytic Converters

ND4SPDLSC's 1985 Lincoln Continental I painted the headers with high temperature silver paint. They are tubular stainless steel, but they are an alloy that develops a light surface rust.

ND4SPDLSC's 1985 Lincoln Continental I need to install the 1985 Mark VII LSC dual snorkel air intake I bought and relocate the windshiel washer tank to plumb another cold air feed.

Items Waiting to be Installed:

-1990-92 Lincoln Mark VII LSC 16"x7" BBS style wheels with B.F. Goodrich Traction T/A tires
-LSC Front Air Springs
-1987-88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe/Cougar XR7 1 5/16" Front Anti-Roll Bar
-New Endlinks with Polyurethane Bushings

I haven't decided if I will buy the Addco #415 7/8" rear bar to compliment the 1 5/16" bar from the Thunderbird or use Mark VII LSC anti-roll bars, wich are slightly smaller, but still pretty effective. From my LSC, I know either set up works for what I want to achieve for this car. The ultra plush ride will be missed, though.

Check out my 1986 Lincoln Mark VII LSC!
