1996 Land Rover Discovery Tdi XS. Owned from Jan 2006 - Feb 2007
This was my first Land Rover. It was a '96 Tdi XS 7 seater with half leather interior and twin sunroofs. I bought it from a local car dealer for ?3800. It had 114,000 miles on the clock and needed some tidying.
This was the dealer photo. They originally had the car up for ?5995 and had eventually reduced it to ?3995. They reckoned that it hadn't sold because of the colour (most want the dark Epsom green). I actually really like this shade called Charleston green.
On our way to holiday in North Wales a van driver decided not to stop and smacked straight into us at a roundabout just outside Shrewsbury. Here's the damage to the Disco......
...and here's the van! I also got whiplash and had to go to physio. Luckily all paid for by other driver's insurance.
We were able to carry on with our journey with only a broken bumper lamp making it not legal.
Luckily the insurance company decided it was worth repairing the Land Rover.
I got it back with a nice shiny new rear end. Quite handy as the original rear door was the worst part of the car!!
Interior was quite unusual with half leather and embroidered Land Rover script in the seat cushions and door panels.
6th and 7th seats folded out of luggage compartment sides.
My girlfriend talked me into buying a newer Discovery after I had this one just over a year. I wish I had kept this one now.
