kaefergarage's 1968 Volkswagen Beetle

09/23/2009 First of all, I'd like to say Thank you for all your votes ! Today I checked the 'positions' and was astonished, where I found my rides.
I got 7 #1's in my garage! That's awesome! How can I thank you for that? I'll keep my work on all the cars for sure and keep you, my friends, updated as good as I can. It's a pleasure to get such results for all the work. That's pretty cool.

When I look at the ranking, I can see, how rarely some cars are - at least on cardomain. But in Germany it's not better. The rarest cars are the 80s Honda. There are only ~150 left of each 1st Accord and 1st Prelude, less than 100 of the 2nd Accord and there are ~1900 Accord Wagons registered! In summary I'm proud :) Thank you!

Hi and welcome to my rides !

What do I have to say ? I am from Germany and I'm collecting cars. Since 1993 I added more and more cars to my collection. I'm interessted in old Beetles and old Hondas. The Pontiac was a dream of mine to have. You know Knight Rider ? Here you are. That was the case to own one. I like the look of the car.

We run a little business, which is to sell spare parts for old Beetles. With 'we' I mean my (twin)brother and I. He is the welder in our team. He makes the broadly work like welding, grinding, bodywork and so on. My part is that, what comes after: paintjob and engine work. Upholstering isn't a part of us, so we take a good look into the cars before we buy one.
We also fix convertibles roofs. That's easier then anybody thinks.

Why old Honda ?
My parents bought the first Honda in 1984. It was the 1980 Honda Accord (Typ SJ). I loved the car. I like the playful design. The little gimmicks all over the body.
The next was the 1983 Honda Accord EX (Typ SY), which I got as my
"Beginner Car" . So I was infected. The cars are great an reliable. Nothing ever got broken. In 20 years of driving we changed just two water pumps and one starter.
The most defects (nowerdays) are the defects which results of the long standings in the garage. Unfortunately I'm not able to drive with the old Honda everyday :(

And why Beetle ?
Which car is more German than the Beetle ? So you know it. I'd like to have a Beetle, since I've got my drivers licens. It doesn't work that way because I got the car of my parents - the
1983 Honda Accord . But I didn't gave up the wish to have an old Beetle and bought my first one in 1993 - it was ED . A lot of Bugs and other cars followed after ED . Some ended in spare parts, some were sold again and others are still in my property.

What has my brother to do with it ?
I have to mention my brother. He is also infected by cars and shares my hobby to 100 percent. He owns also 4 Beetles, 2 VW vans (T3 of 1980 and a T4 of 1990), an old Honda Prelude of 1986 (he still owns his beginner car !), one Mercedes C-class and his loved 1979 Porsche 911 with targa roof. The latest cars he bought is a 198x Jaguar XJ and a 1987 Buick.

Here you can get to all our cars
Our website - unfortunately only in German available but follow the Link 'Unsere Sammlung' on the right side and you can see the pictures of them all.
