Hi, my name is Christie and I live in Okinawa, Japan. I'd always wanted a Miata, so when my husband and I found out how inexpensive they are here, I begged him to let me have one. We went to a place that specializes in M1 Miatas, and as soon as I saw this one, I knew it was The One.
It was a 1991 automatic (at the time, I couldn't drive stick) with less than 80,000 kilometers and all original parts. It had originally been white, but the previous owner had painted it a pretty bluish purple.
Sure, it needed some work, but I was willing to wait for perfection. For six weeks I waited impatiently as the Japanese miracle-workers at Swap Meet (yes, you read correctly) made Elle into my dream car. I didn't see her at all until the day I was finally able to bring her home.

Doesn't she just take your breath away?
I've had Elle for six months now and made quite a few changes, with many more in store. The first thing I did was add white racing rims and racing tires.
I also got a premium colorfast cloth top with a glass rear window.
Inside, I've changed out the stock steering wheel for a racing type wheel that's white with faint pink veins running through it. I just added KG Works chrome door handle rings and have an IL Motorsports chrome gauge cluster sheet on the way.
Right after I got Elle, I switched the stock stereo for a 2 DIN Pioneer CD/cassette player, but just after Christmas, I upgraded to a Japanese MD/CD player. It's pink with changeable face plates, but I usually keep the Hello Kitty plate on there.
So, this is Elle as she is today. She gives me more joy than I ever imagined a car could, and makes my hourlong commute totally enjoyable.

For a short while, my husband and I both had Miatas. It was a wonderful time. Please don't ask what happened to the White Bomber. We still haven't quite come to grips with it . . . .
***Update*** I got bored over the weekend so I grabbed some spray paint and did a little experimenting. I think it came out well! Now all I need are some white Katzkin seat covers!

The shifter looks really out of place now, and the bottom half of the ebrake is peeling a bit already, but since I plan to replace both handles with chrome ones and add white leather boots in the near future, I don't think it's a big deal. :)
