We just recently were handed this car down by my in-laws. I just ran a Carfax report as of 5-8-08. The car was bought new in Dania, Florida in June of 1988. My mother and father in law bought this car back in 1993 with 9,300 miles according to Carfax and drove it until about October of 1996. The Waterpump needed replacement and the bolt broke while installing. In addition to that a new Radiator, Hoses, Belts, Thermostat, and fan were purchased and then they non opped the mustang in 1997. It has been sitting in there backyard for about 11 years now. It has the 5.0 HO engine with the 4-speed AOD transmission. The interior is beige. It is equipped with the Ford 8.8 rear end.

As of 10-19-09 I have sold my daily driver therefore making this my driver. I am getting an Electron Convertible Top installed 10-28-09. Keep checking for the updates. I have also ordered new headlights, power steering pump, most likely an alternator, and then for all the necessary maintainence. New Fox Mustang Restoration Metal Painted Black Door Handles arrived, MSD Street Fire Coil, Accell 8MM Super Stock Plug Wires, and New Battery Cables. First will be the BG Products Full Synthetic Transmission Flush, BG Products Fuel Injection Cleaning Flush, Transmission, Engine Oil, Fuel, and Washer Fluid additives. Deciding on the shift kit whether to go with Trans Go, TCI, B&M. I have also bought a new carpet kit for it.

A few shots as of 2-18-09. The BBK Shorty Chrome headers are installed, the new cold air intake is on, and you wouldnt believe the sound and performance difference. I have never felt it pull like this. Next purchases will be an electric temperature gauge, new Accel 8MM yellow wires because the Napa wires are garbage. B&M shiftkit is on its way, hopefully that will make a large difference. And by mid March the new black convertible top should be installed.

Updated engine shot as of 11-10-09.

A few new shots as of 2-8-09 after installing the March Underdrive Pulleys and New Flexalite Fan. Cant wait to rip the exhaust manifolds off and replace them with the new BBK Chrome Shorties. Also the stock airbox will be going.

As of 2-3-09 I have purchased a new aluminum Flexalite Fan, Cold Air Intake, new BBK Chrome Shorty Headers, and March Performance Series underdrive pulleys. Soon i will be ordering a new black convertible top, carpet kit, and 4.10 gears will be not far off either. Im trying to make her a high 13 car.

-My tire was warrantied and replaced with a new hankook tire. Shes back on the road...
-As of 6-18-08 i was driving to work and my sidewall split from my tread so im trying to get the tire warrantied considering they have 100-200 miles on it. Even though they have a few years on them.

-My most recent pictures after i cut and polished the driver side.. I havent waxed it yet.

How she looks as of now.

-As of 6-11-08 i pulled the airbox off and removed the air intake silencer and could hear the difference but most definetly feel the difference.. supposedly a 5 hp gain at the rear wheels...

I added a Flexalite Fan and aluminum spacer as of 6-10-08. It blows so much better than that cracked stock fan with the full heavy metal clutch.. Much less weight as well... also less friction so more horsepower..

We recently uncorked the exhaust and pulled the system apart from the flange back. My brother built me mufflers that are less restrictive than flowmasters and many others, lighter, but fully welded and heavy duty.. i decided on 18 gauge due to its weight.. moderate strength as well... heres some pics of the buildup

The things that have been done since i have had it, "Modifications"
- My father in law purchased a new ford racing water pump for it back in 1997 (broke the bolt off into the block) so we fixed it.

-Brand new set of tires

-New Ford Racing radiator

-BBK Chrome Shorty 1 5/8" Headers

-New Electron Convertible Top in Black

-All new Serpentine Belt and Hoses

-New 180 degree thermostat

-Fresh High Peformance Napa 10W40 Oil and Filter change

-Transmission Flush with Napa Mercon V and new filter and gasket

-MSD 8MM HP Wires, MSD Blaster Coil, MSD Cap and Rotor

-New Borg Warner Starter Silenoid

-New Custom Cold Air Intake

-Autolite HP spark plugs

-New headlight bulbs and taillight bulbs

-New heater, waterpump, Radiator hoses and Clamps throughout

-Exhaust has been cut off and new custom built 10" mufflers with 1 small flow chamber have been welded on after the cats with 2 1/2" turndowns.

-The air intake hose, throttle body, and EGR have been disassembled and cleaned thouroughly with throttle body cleaner and brake clean. That was an amazing difference in response..

-5-23-08 i just purchased a 1991 hood for $20 in gloss black with a few scratches. shes basically complete
-A new lightweight plastic Flexalite fan and aluminum fan spacer was added in place of the stock cracked and heavy fan.

-the air intake silencer was removed so maximum airflow is there with the airbox along with a brand new filter. Realistically as she sits she should be at about 214-220 hp to the wheels.. which isnt all that bad.. i dont go by advertised hp.. 225hp stock but thats at the flywheel...

Things it needs(Future plans)
-4.10 Gears & Ford Racing Trac Lock Posi
-Vortech or Paxton 12psi Supercharger.
-5.0 Cobra GT-40 Intake manifold or ported stock..
-65-75MM Throttle Body
-Roller Rockers
-MAF
-Ford Racing B-303 or E-303 cam
-One day some 18" wheels
-A bulletproof AOD with a stage 3 shiftkit that can handle 500 hp.. 2800 stall torque converter.. Maybe Lentech
-Dark Gray Metallic Paint
-5% window tint
-I have a Pioneer reciever and 6x9 sony xplod speakers waiting to be installed
-My goal is to make around 325-400 rwhp and a good daily driver without cracking the stock block..

-From 5-9-08 to the 28th of may the car went from not running for over a decade to being the new daily driver..
-On 5-22-08 we felt as if the thermostat might be sticking so we replaced the 210 degree for a new 180 degree thermostat.

As of 5-11-08 we got her running smooth. We added fuel stabilizer and added some new fuel. Also primed the throttle body with starter fluid.
-We ran the old broken down oil in the engine with some stp oil treatment
-we checked the convertible top and it works great.
-as of 5-12-08 we put her on the lift, changed the oil and filter
-put in the coolant
-drop the transmission pan and fluid, put in a new tranny filter and Napa Mercon 5 tranny fluid
-drop the diff cover off and clean the gears. Add new Mac1 gear oil and limited slip additive.
-Then the brake check. Not too bad.
As of 5-17-08 we took her out for a spin. The tranny shutters a bbit at low speeds but once you give her some gas she shifts like a new car.
-We added new Autolite spark plugs and 8MM spark plug wires.
-We added a Napa Performance air filter
-Also a new transmission kickdown cable
-Gave the engine a bit of a cleanup. Pics should be up soon.

-

Today 5-9-08 my brother came over and we pulled off the new waterpump and reinstalled it. Heres some pictures for you...
