4.3L Engine swap has begun!

check back often for updates on the swap! I'll be posting pictures frequently.

I have a 1983 Mitsubishi Montero I picked it up from a guy for $650 and his dad drove it off the lot in '83! it has 1.5" body lift and a 2" add a leaf in the rear and cranked the torsion bars 2" in the front.

The interor has a lot of custome fabrication....

I made a custom trim plate to fit around an alpine deck and a Cobra CB radio, the incinometer cluster did not come stock on this truck so I installed that and mounted a external speaker for the CB ontop of it.

Replaced the cloth side panne;s and replaced them with diamond plate, and used a stainless steel gas cover for the rear windsheild fuild resivor.

Again replaced the cloth rear pannel with diamond plate and installed two 6x9 pioneer speakers, and mounted a mgalite. the back has also been hurculined. I also wired eclipse speakers into the door, the speakers I had did not come with a kick plate so I ordered one off e-bay and painted it to match the theme.

The roof rack I drew the plans for and fabbed it up, the only thing I didnt do was powder coat it (oh how I wish I could!) the high lift and shovel mount are not standard 2 bolts through the rack for the highlift and a little something I came up with for the shovel also tabbs for 6 running lights 4 in the front 2 in the rear, and 2 tabs for 4' tiger shark cb attenas, with some creative work to run the wires.

I also had the wheels powdercoated black , I added a little safty orange to the lug nuts and brake drum, to match the lights and grille.

Great deal on the Mitsu! I was told Mitsubishi didn't import the Montero/Pajero/Raider until 1987, so I'm surprised you have an '83. Tough little machine. I bought mine while I was out there on a contract in Seattle. I still have mine, but I've only been driving it in the summer. I would keep the rhinoliner at the lower line (where you have black now). I am thinking about doing just that with mine, after fixing a little rocker panel rust. Did you get the swap done?
