Engine pics. Original drive train was an Astron I 2.0 4 cylinder (78kw), 3 speed auto box. New engine is out of a 1996 TR Magna. It's an Astron III 2.6 4 cylinder (at least 105kw at the moment), 5 speed manual gearbox. The Astron III has the same block as the Astron II, but with a much better head. The rocker cover is now out of a GK Scorpion.
December 2004: head had to be changed because the timming chain was too loose and it jumped a few teeth on the timming gears, causing valves to touch pistons and breaking a few things on the valve-train... A new reco'ed temporary head was sourced out of a GN Astron II 2.6 and new timming chain also fitted. I also removed the balance-shafts while I was at it with a balance-shaft removal kit. Result is more power at the wheels and a free reving engine. Downside is a tiny little more vibration between 3500 and 4000rpm.
