This is my 1962 cadillac coupe deville, i bought it for $4,500 in Corona California in 2004.
Since then ive bought chrome rims, re-did the interior and had body work along with paint.
I wanted the car for the fact i dont ever see them, i liked the body style i just wish parts were not so damned expensive...
As of last week My car was painted. Rainbow Metalflake, and flat black.
It looks silver in this picture, but when you catch it in the right light it really POP's we covered the car in 2 1/2 gallons of clear roughly 20 coats. Some may not believe it, this is the STEP by STEP of what it took to lay down all this flake... 1. Metalic Basecoat. 2. Flake sprayed with reducer. 3. Flake sprayed with clear, 3 coats of flake in clear, then 5 coats of clear let it sit overnight in the booth. Then 3 more coats of clear, let it sit. knocked the tops off the flake with blocks, layed down another 9 more coats of clear Covered all the egdes and every piece of FLAKE of the car. wetsanded to a mirror finish The 9 coats of finish clear was Needed so we could block Completely straight and buff. To give you an Idea of how thick the clear is....
you could peel it off the car. the egde is thicker than a fingernail. a little more than a quarter at the line where the tape was set.

Im looking into beauty rings for the car, and spider caps. I have 57 cadillac hubcaps with bullets i just dont know what look im going for yet. Pinstripping will be done by Tom Bryne.
