Meet Lilly, she is a 1974 Plymouth Valiant that I came across from someone at work. I work at a Dodge dealership with the service department and one day a co-worker of mine told me about this car that his customer wanted to get rid of. I asked what kind of car it was, if he had looked at it and how much she wanted for it. He told me that it was a 4 door valiant, she wanted a thousand for it and that it was in amazing shape.
Usually I'm not into mid to late 70's four door cars but i was willing to take a look. I got the contact information and gave her a call. I was welcomed on the other end of the reciever by an old german lady in her 80's. She told me that she was the original owner of the car and she had bought it on Febuary 2, 1975 in New Mexico. She had put 50,000 miles on the car herself and then her husband drove it up until the clock hit 84,000 miles. It was then parked 4 years ago. She had also told me that the car was garage kept it's whole life. When i got off the phone i was even more excited to see the car than before.
A few days later I showed up at her house to look at the car with my mom. She opened the door and invited us in and talked with us for about 30 minates and then showed us some projects that she had done in her younger days. After a while of seeing her neat hand made stuff I finally got to see it. She opened the garage door and this is what I found....

Upon further inspection I quickly discovered that this is a low optioned car... no A/C...only an AM radio..no FM...non- electric windshield washer....etc...from seeing this i figured that it had a slant 6 under the hood so i took a look. To my surprise it had a v8 resting between its fenders. After discovering the 318 I took a step back to look at the body....
*paint was in excellent shape for being 33 years old..
*the vinyl top only had one very small imperfection..
*the body had no rust and had a dent in the drivers door..
It wasn't in bad shape at all and the interior was in the same exact shape with a small tear in the seat. I realized that it had been well taken care of...and I wanted it...and a week later a deal was struck and i was able to pick it up. After i added a little antifreeze, some juice to the battery and a single shot of ether to the carb, it fired right up. I had started it up after a 4 year nap and it purred like a kitten.
Here is a pic of the Valiant seeing light for the first time in 4 years
On the way home i stopped at a car wash and gave the motor a bath and took some more pictures of it....enjoy...
