This is my 2000 Taurus 3.0 FFV. Its just recently become my new project car because Im curious to find out the difference in performance outcomes between E85 vs. Unleaded. Also its getting me college credit and a good way to justify spending alot of money just because I like to. If you need any help locating performance parts or just general performance questions look no further. This is my projekt, and your rescource guide for a faster Taurus. Remember there are NO stupid questions, just stupid people. I dont rag on people that offer up a question for there knowledge.
***UPDATE*** ME + MONTHS OF SAVING + OBSESSIVE/COMPULSIVE + TOO MUCH TIME = TURBO TAURUS.....Yeah Im for real, Its now got a turbo. Scroll down to bottom of page. ***UPDATE***

As you can see in this picture of the rear if you look close you can see what looks like a cheap autozone or auto parts store 3 dollar special exaust tip. Well thankfully its not, Its the end of a custom magnaflow exaust setup designed by a local drag and hotrod legend out here thats been doing this for decades. The guys like 70 sum and still putting out the work. It all starts from the down tubes and goes all the way back. The exaust tube is one diameter size larger than stock with a magnaflow wide open race series muffler. I had him use the eliptical tip because I wanted the mystery effect and I dont want to have the overtuned look. This setup gave me exactly the sound I wanted, quiet at idle and the deep bass at about 4000 rpms. Plus a little added low end torque. I intend on getting it on a dyno soon to see where Im at currently.

This is a quick up close shot so you can see it better.
Ok, heres a quick clip of the exaust and how it sounds. For anyone that assumes that the white smoke is a sign of ring failure, sorry not yet. All it is is condensation built up in the system. It happens to all cars you just never notice it. And the backfires are due to the straight flowthru design of the magnaflow muffler. There are no diffusers in this muffler so cold starts with some gas tend to offer up the distinct backfire pops. But overall I like the sound, makes all the ricers look twice.

This obviously is the heart of the beast and will be my obsession for at least the better part of a year till im satisfied with the output. As I have begun to find out, getting performance parts for the Taurus is pretty frustrating. They dont even make a true cold air intake for it. So as you can see I have just done what alot have people do and just got an adapter plate and open element cone filter and used the stock tubing and went with it. I switched out the filter in the photos with a brand new K&N. Even with just this I was able to feel a change in power. But If Im unable to locate a true intake setup Im just gonna find a local machine shop and have them fabricate me things I need. But so far with just these two more popular upgrades Im starting to see that it could very well become a force to be reckoned with. I have let loose a few times with it and so far its been a pleasure having grannys car teach them a few things. The only problem Im having is the transmission shift points on the power band. But it still does the trick.
As I said before I changed the intake filter to a K&N. It works slightly better but theres no benefit over the other filter to make a huge difference. The only thing is I dont have to clean it as often. Now heres the big change, Spark plug wires. I had originally tried a MSD universal set. But theres one big problem. The boots and terminals by MSD are not compatable with Fords EDIS coil pack. So I made a trip down to the dealer and found this nifty set by Ford Racing. The set is a 9mm spiral wire almost like MSDs set but only .5mm larger. Ill have to say one thing. WOW. The powers there faster, throttle response is snappier, and acceleration has had a very noticable gain. Its a well worth Upgrade if your willing to shell out the 90 bucks for it.

I put this on there just so those sticker power kids that they're not the only ones that can get 5 extra ponys from a sticker.

Heres a look at those new Toyos that I got wrapped on my car. These things stick like no other to the pavement.

The new baer decela rotors. They work great but a little on the noisey side during braking.

The new Accel EDIS coil, Constant voltage regulator, and the new Green filter.
And now the newest ultimate super sleeper weapon in my arsonal. You wouldnt even know that this 4 door sedan was equiped with anything like it. But when those guys laugh only to be dusted and only left with the deadly subtle whine of a turbo spooling up and the light but distinct sound of a BOF. At the end of it all I get to enjoy watching them double take or just make there next left. Yes Indeed I now have BOOST. The system runs at 6 pounds of boost and gives it one hell of a giddy-up. Dont have installed pics yet but there coming. Just moved and still unpacking. But have no fear heres a couple of demo pics of how the system looks installed. Bear in mind this system replaces the less than a year old magnaflow muffler :( wasted bucks. Oh hell I cant complain, I got a turbo.
